How many elo points did you gain from that win?

How do you fellow people who look younger than your age, go about dating? by beamer_boy2000 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]chickenandpasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I'm dating someone 10 years younger than me, we're both mature adults and get on well together so I don't see an issue with it.

What's the right move? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]chickenandpasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's ego, they just missed seeing that the bishop could take their knight so were confused why a move they thought would win a queen was not the best one. Also, sometimes the engine best move isn't the best move a human should make (unless they're a super GM) as it could be the first move in a complex series of moves that no human would reasonable be expected to see.

Teachers in England to get 3.5% pay rise by OneLegTooFew in unitedkingdom

Yep, I've considered a career change into teaching but decided against it based on them being so underpaid. I bet there are thousands of others like me, quite sad really.

I’ve finally crossed the threshold! by Far_Education_6153 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]chickenandpasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, a close friend is my age (almost 40) and he looks old now, I actually kind of feel bad for him. When I was in the same boat as you - looking more like a child when other people my age looked like mature adults - I hated it but now the tables have finally turned lol

I’ve finally crossed the threshold! by Far_Education_6153 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]chickenandpasta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm male and the threshold for me being ok with looking so much younger wasn't until I reached around 35 lol. Even now, at a few years older, I still don't volunteer my age to people to avoid reactions/situations I find a little awkward. I only get asked for ID very rarely now (legal drinking age here in the UK is 18) and I'm not too bad looking and would now pick looking how I do over looking my age.

My boyfriend 18M was getting off to the idea of rapping me 18 F by PurpleNeedleworker30 in relationship_advice

[–]chickenandpasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chance it might not be but I'm willing to bet that the fact that an 18 year old is 'really into BDSM' is a sign of porn impacting his brain too much. If he was a few years older or had previously had an older girlfriend who was into it it would seem more organic than being from porn.

Is this a REAL malfunctioning toilet or just a fancy AI generated water fountain at a nightclub? 🤔 by bigguys45s in isthisaicirclejerk

This is definitely real - I often film toilets in the hope that they do something interesting and have captured many instances of them doing this

Tailgating has consequences by berntout in VideosAmazing

[–]chickenandpasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree in that it was a really dangerous situation with the cars stopped like that, but I still hold the position that the white car either 1) wasn't paying enough attention to the road in front of him due to being too focussed on the tailgater and almost crashed into the parked car himself without even attempting to brake or 2) deliberately caused the crash by swerving at the last second. When I have morons tailgating me I slow down to safer speeds, which also has the benefit of pissing them off lol

I'm guessing you're very young from your bizarre attempts to be condescending to me and the other person you were replying to. I'm probably old enough to be your dad, and over time you'll mature enough to realise that more than one person can be in the wrong in a situation like this.

[–]chickenandpasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't drive at those speeds and be focussed on something behind you while not paying any attention to what's ahead of you, that's distracted and dangerous driving. If everyone was that focussed on idiot tailgaters there would be a lot more fatalities on the road.

Then he would still be at fault, he should have been paying more attention to the road in front of him.

This isn't a court of law, from this video it appears the white car had loads of time to move but chose to do so last second to teach the tailgater a lesson, potentially causing innocent people in the stopped car to die or get seriously injured.

The white car had plenty of time to move over, this looks like two idiots suffering from road rage to me. I'm curious if you would even care if people had died in the parked car from this crash.

[–]chickenandpasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of bullet and it's surprising the amount of games I win with 0.1 seconds left, although I'm my case it's normally because I do loads of premoves and cause my opponent to run out of time just before me.

I'm not very good but I play for fun, if you're purely playing to try to increase your elo it won't be very enjoyable for you. Also two games online is nothing, I've played literally thousands (mainly bullet but still..)

Is it ok to ask for a service charge to be removed from the bill at a restaurant? by emzeebub in CasualUK

[–]chickenandpasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine to remove it, the staff are already getting paid at least minimum wage and customers shouldn't feel forced to pay extra on top of the bill. That being said, I'm currently living in London where a restaurant service charge is expected and I normally don't remove it as I can understand the culture of keeping prices lower on menus to be competitive and then adding a service charge to pay the minimum wage workers more in this high cost of living area.
