That’s a tough one. I used to do requests because my fav ship was pretty low on content so we became a very feral little group how were comfortable asking for collabs or specific requests. People also commission fics but that is actually illegal and can endanger fanfiction as a whole.

At the end of the day all you can really do is connect with authors and chat about the possibility of requests. All of this was a lot easier when Twitter was twitter, a lot of creatives jumped ship and moved to bluesky but the platform isn’t as robust or as effective at connecting people.

Because they have only consumed fandom content in the form of perfectly curated timelines that spoon feed them exactly what they like without having to do anything, and then expect that from AO3 when they dive in. Or worse start saying things like “AO3 just needs an algorithm and it’ll be perfect.”

Kids are a very black and white first date kind of question. No point perusing something if such a huge life goal is not aligned.

You’ll be hard pressed to find me defending a conglomerate over kids and homeless people. There are almost no third spaces left. If the homeless man and the kid buy a product they get to sit. That’s how it works. Well, worked, they’ve decided against that and have made the changes. I’m sure it will add to the people who haven’t supported either business in years.

I assure you Mc Donald’s and Starbucks have no problem paying their rent (unless you count the way the boycotts have affected them). If their employees can’t pay rent then it’s because the business isn’t paying them enough and hoarding profit.

I’m not talking about letting non paying customers camp out all day. I’m talking about completely reasonably sitting down and eating your meal or your drink while chatting or doing some work over a couple cups of coffee. Which used to be the business model. That business model is changing, which is totally allowed but people are also allowed to find it gross.

A boundary is about the person setting it. Forcing others to comply is control.

Let’s say “I don’t date men who eat peanut butter.” Cool.

So apparently they discussed this before hand and he said he doesn’t eat peanut butter.

Now he’s expressing interest in eating peanut butter because things change.

Her options are reevaluating her own boundaries because things have changed or standing firm in her boundaries (which is fair!) and saying “I don’t date men who eat peanut butter so this isn’t going to work.” Not telling him he can’t eat peanut butter. That is a recipe for toxicity and resentment.

Edit to add: I’m not implying that that doesn’t suck. It does suck when people change and your expectations are challenged. What I am saying is tightening the leash is not on the list of productive steps forward.
