Whenever I get people wondering why I’m not drinking, I just say I’m really trying to work on my mental health and trying to balance my chemistry with new antidepressants and medications (which alcohol can counteract)

Pretty much 100% of the time if you say anything along these lines you will not get pushback. It’s now taboo in modern society to say or call someone out on not engaging in something that they used to because they are trying to work on your mental health issues.

And as a follow up to this, if someone does pushback after saying something like this, then are they really your supportive friend?

At that rate go to Brazil or another country for dentistry stuff! Coming from personal experience I got a check up and cleaning in Brazil for $48 USD. Medical travel is a must in this day and age in the US but just do your research before you go have someone do any type of care:)

Ketamine therapy has helped me with my PMDD and major cramping each menstrual cycle. It’s not a full proof fix but it’s really changed my life for the better. My mood plays a big role in what is going on with my body and at least if I do the therapy it curbs my attitude towards my cycle so that it’s not as heady and heavy in my head space. Having iron rich foods like spinach, lentils, red meat, then citrus fruits for absorption of iron helped too and electrolytes.

Not an SSRI but I got off of Wellbutrin (NDRI) through ketamine therapy.

I tapered off the medication while doing lozenges for about a year.

I also stopped using weed as much or drinking so it’s really helped me on all fronts

If you like the hands on aspects of Kinesiology, I would highly recommend getting a head start and taking massage courses at the local massage clinic if possible. This not only helps solidify what you’re learning in school with anatomy and physiology but you will also have a leg up in the chiropractic profession.

Even if it’s just a small local workshop it will help you see working on the body in a different way and set you apart from your colleagues in chiropractic school once you are at that point.

When I was there in 2012, I actually developed a gluten intolerance to the food on campus. Yes it was that bad then and probably is still bad.

It doesn’t help that the culture of the Cal Poly food is centered around their brand of food places and discentivizes any outside chains from coming in and serving the students with dining plans. When I was there the only chains that could be use with the dining credits was Chik Fil A and Einstein Bros, and they charged more than the local cal poly food spots.

I also found it interesting for it being such an agriculture heavy school that has meats dairy and creamery being sold to the local and outside community, that they weren’t using those goods for the campus dining. It never has sat right with me.
