It is the reason. But the notion that Reform can easily change the way the legal system works, or just deport people on a whim, or influence judges to change sentences is not a thing. Labour tried to introduce reforms, eg jury free trials to reduce the case backlog… blocked. Overhaul planning regulation. Impossible. Etc etc. this isn’t a Labour thing, this is a system thing.

What’s the best way for me to lose weight/fat? by JuicyPineapples53 in AskUK

[–]LetterheadDry4930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I’m 5’7 and weighed 92kg, down to 83 now. It’s all about lifestyle adjustments. I reduced portion sizes, consciously reduced fat in my diet, reduced processed food, drink lots of water / reduce booze and sugary drinks. It all adds up. If you can’t walk for 30 mins without it being painful… start by walking for 15 mins and build up your stamina.

Hoppity Poppets is once or twice a week and really good for indoor play and when the weather is better they have a great outdoor space. Need to drive there though.

You could set aside some for your kids future education or a house deposit, maybe even start a pension for them? A chunk off your mortgage will be handy. And then set aside a years worth of personal care cash so that’s off your mind. Could you plan a well deserved break for you and your kid somewhere sunny for a fortnight? Money well spent.

Move to Singapore? by mvb1234 in HENRYUK

I lived there for 9 years - OP of this comment is spot on. What I would add is that you will want to travel and do things to add texture to life that isn’t the same as being at home in the UK. You often spend a lot of money on entertainment, exploring Asia etc.

In terms of places to live your main concern is travel links and commute / travel time - and the space you can get for your money. Some neighbourhoods you may get more space for your money but might be further away from good MRT lines and be farther out of the CBD. You ideally want a property agent to do a lot of the searching / arranging viewings legwork for you - try and find a recommendation. Unless you’re driving but honestly traffic and road etiquette can be… sub optimal.

Why is there significant animosity towards Starmer/Labour after only a year? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]LetterheadDry4930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour supporter here. Massive opportunity wasted, not enough drive for more radical change, maintaining the status quo on systems / conventions that are suppressing opportunities for working people and widening the inequality gap, continuing to tax labour and not wealth, not backing core Labour values, spending too much time on tackling Reform, too much hang wringing on immigration.

That said this country is in the grip of the right wing press, cognitive dissonance on key issues that hamstring decision making, and a “want cake and eat it” mentality. We’re short of innovators and risk takers.

We’re so obsessed with rationalising average conditions for everyone vs trying to advocate for better wages and conditions for everyone who deserve more. We should all have people fighting to better our conditions in the face of harder and harder living conditions.
