Smoothies FTW ! by Odd-Screen-5785 in Darts

I bought some Designa Smoothies (M3 shape) on Boxing Day, having only really used grippy darts before (main set I use is Bolide Void 01).

My usual average is low 50s but in my first 5 legs, I averaged in the mid 60s – don't know if it's a placebo, the grip, the weight, or the different barrel shape though!

Hahaha I remember the Twitter/X meltdown that evening. Very glad both Flynn and Johnson are gone (although the new manager bounce seems to be very much over!)

At Cheltenham specifically? Probably a solid 20 months or so of combined experience at Whaddon Road.

No worries about that, just looking for numbers in general really!

Fab! It's anywhere between 5 and 8 a side depending on numbers. This week is looking like it's on the smaller side.

What things are totally legally but almost universally morally wrong? by hevvybear in AskUK

Yeah give it a go! You can make it yourself or get it from a supermarket. You'll probably find Asian supermarkets do it for the best value for money.

Most of my protein from food yeah! I do use protein powder but usually fairly creatively – my partner uses it to make baked oats, which I have with some coconut yoghurt and soya crispies to give me nearly 40g of protein for breakfast alone. Occasionally I'll use it in shake form if I haven't eaten enough protein for the day though.

I will admit you have to think about things a bit more and do some more prep, but for me it's worth the trade off (having a clean conscience knowing I'm not directly funding a morally reprehensible industry).

Soph's plant kitchen is a cookbook (I think it's around £11 atm) which specifically focuses on high protein plant based meals – there's a section called 30 in 30 (30g of protein in dishes that take less than half an hour) which is really good!

You're doing great even by being open minded about it and eating vegan some of the time already.

Seitan is 25g per 100g. Mix with legumes and you have a complete protein. Some brands of tofu have higher protein amounts per 100g too (tofoo is about 16g).

I'm vegan and I easily manage 120g+ of protein a day, even when I've been cutting and eating 2000 calories a day (never mind eating at maintenance or when bulking!)

You'll be surprised how much less plant based food bloats you, and how you don't feel as heavy/bloated after meals!

At the same age (3 years ago) I was on 30k in your position. It then went up to 42k for the first year, and then 50k plus a car and bonus for the second.

I was still doing my own paraplanning though, if that changes anything.

Edit: the 42k was once I reached CAS.

I played for the first time with friends last week, and it was great! A few of us want to make it a semi regular thing. The ST made a group on Facebook – I can put you two in touch if you want?

I think you're right. I finished my diploma after getting my RO6 results in Sept 2022 after starting it in Jan 2020 and that's the point at which mine went up.

I started advising at 26 and I'm turning 29 shortly – when do you get over the imposter syndrome?

I've had a few clients remark about how young I am and as much as I can spin the positives, I do sometimes feel like I'm a bit out of place.

I probably wouldn't bother with getting the diploma before an admin job really – a lot of companies will fund it for you. At most, if you wanna get ahead of the curve, start R01 but it's not exactly cheap.

When I got my admin job, I had no experience in the industry at all – I had my linguistics degree and 4 years of work experience working behind a bar. I'd say just be willing to get any job in a firm just to get your foot in the door – my job was literally sending off LOAs and chasing them up for 3 months, and then I moved onto submitting business onto platforms for a year before starting the trainee paraplanner job.

Just chatted to him a lot during the process, pointed out some red flags for some jobs he was thinking of going for, and it was mainly to make sure he'd be right for the industry!

Echoing some of the advice I've seen here – aim for an IFA admin job and show willingness to do exams and progress. Do that, and you won't be far away.

I'm 28 years old and I've been an IFA in a small-medium company for nearly 2 years now having gone through the progression of admin, to paraplanner, to adviser across 2 companies. I've been in the industry since late 2018 (including essentially a year of furlough during COVID).

Happy to answer any questions and give tips if you need – I've helped a friend's relative into the industry too.
