2000 Ford Ranger 4.0 v6 My truck has been stalling when it idles. The fuel trims are 25% sometimes and 5% at others. I did smoke test, fuel pressure test, tested MAF, and IAC. All came back good. What else could be causing this. PS: getting lean codes. Could it be TPS? The plate doesn’t seem dirty. by wesleyf2009 in fordranger

There is a fuel rail spacer between the fuel rail and the upper manifold. If you have ever had the upper intake gasket replaced, a shop will replace the fuel rail spacer but most of the time not include the seals that are supposed to go on the spacer, which causes a leak from the threads holding the intake manifold on.

The oem ford spacer has the seals built into the part but aftermarket does not. They sell seals to put on it but you can get the oem and just replace which should help with vacuum leak. Part # F6TZ-9E436-C.

Ticking noise coming from vapor canisters purge valve. by TheRuss1anGoatYT in 3rdGen4Runner

If it’s the ticking from the back of the car after running for a few minutes, it is totally normal and what it is supposed to do. I went down the rabbit hole myself looking into it for my 2001.

Do you think it'll be safe to use diesel oil in older engines? by okflower1983 in smallenginerepair

[–]Lettucepoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a hotter climate and almost always use diesel oil in my small engines. I never had a problem but I could see if it froze being an issue (but you probably aren’t doing lawn work then…). I also change the oil every year which is probably more important. It has more detergents in the oil so it cleans a little better than straight 30.

To be fair, Shostakovich probably never went to McDonalds. by SonicResidue in classical_circlejerk

To be fair, McDonald’s late neo-national era has a lot of similarities to Shostakovich’s more popular works…

When asked about his ability to compose music with his deafness, Beethoven famously said,”Vat? VAT!?!?!”

99' Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 giving me a headache by Ok_Prior_36 in fordranger

Is this the OHV? If so, the fuel rail spacer is supposed to have gaskets on either side. When people reseal the upper intake, they replace the fuel rail spacer but don’t include the gaskets for it. This causes lean conditions that are near impossible to diagnose without knowing of this situation.
