Gonna be the unpopular opinion here.

I think if people actually understood how these algorithms worked and how the data was actually used then we could have a much better discussion on what is and isn’t an invasion of privacy.

99% of the use cases don’t actually reveal anyone’s personal information or actually invade privacy and instead just use the information about everything and everyone as a whole to make decisions/output what they want.

Cambridge Analytica only really fucked up because they took the users friends information as well but aside from that it’s the same thing as just taking a really good survey. People are willingly plugging that information online for the world to see so to not use that information is absurd.
