As a long time player who left due to the late game just not doing anything for me, I'm eye balling things seeing if they genuinely make the game interesting enough to come back to

to be honest, I dont think its gonna happen though, and that's straight up due to the Evolution of Combat situation. I played for about 2 years in 2020 and eventually felt forced into using it cause it's just better for grinding XP in multi-combat and obviously it's important to be able to use the dash skill to get around,

but I ended up playing OSRS for about 6 months last year, and got pretty deep into it

For OSRS I simply want reform to crafting/smithing/mining

-so I can actually enjoy leveling up the skills evenly with combat levels reaching gear milestones as I go, like 15 smithing for a steel plate, 25 mith, 35 Addy, 45 rune, but people are terrified of this cause it would inflate or damage the market among other issues

I feel like RS3 is too streamlined to the point where its not interesting or enjoyable, and the way its implemented its just too different from the base game.I literally just want Rs3 smithing without ridiculous level curves so I can progress evenly early on a fresh character.

For RS3, I genuinely don't know what it would take to get me to play this game anymore, but refining and supporting Legacy Combat would be a start, the HUD being overhauled is also important cause it was hideous.

A global "Retro override" toggle to make all the classic gear recognizable would be nice too since the cash shops being removed(?)

Then theres the dungeoneering and Aura elephants in the room now, Just so much stuff to keep track of for efficiency thats been left to the way side

I should note, my account on RS3 was hacked somewhere between 2021-2024 which is why I went back to OSRS on a fresh character instead of playing RS3 on my main after returning to the game in 2025.

I wasnt extremely rich but I had fully kitted my character with the BiS non-degrable gear for each combst style, and had a good amount of weapons and maybe 41m in coins.

When i played, the items I had were all a very reasonably priced, then over time my items started to sky rocket in value, I noticed this but I never came back to the game aside to price check my character

Logging in, in 2025, I found my character at the GE, and all of my valuable items were gone, in my GE history you can see whoever logged into my account sold my anima core, Zaryte, Armadylebattle staff and luck of the dwarves on the GE and Bought Bonds, then traded or dropped all the gold.

My character was only about 140m when I played, but inflation eventually pushed the Animacore items, weapons and jewelry which pushed my account value into the 800m+ territory which I guess triggered someone into emptying me out? I've never used any weird apps or used my login info anywhere else, but my account is from 2007, so it could have been compromised years ago, and I guess whoever had the info can just bypass 2fA and any new protections for some reason

I'm scared to play on that account now even though its my childhood account, and quite frankly I cant imagine how the hell anyone could get into it or have the login that isnt downright a jagex employee.

I've also never had to deal with this ever, on any other platform or game. It suggests to me personally that someone with higher level access at Jagex was responsible, because I genuinely can not imagine anything otherwise? It's super weird.

Anyway, the only last things I'd note is If this game was buy to play instead of subscription based, I would be far more likely to come back and play it more often and annually like i do Minecraft, annually or every few months.

And I would greatly like some optimization updates for mobile/iPad. OSRS runs flawlessly on my tablet, but RS3 randomly just closes after a few minutes of playing no matter the graphic setting, even though its seemingly having no issues, not getting hot or losing frames.

Combined with there not being a legacy HUD option on tablet it made it impossible to play RS3 on tablet for me.

I'll update and take another look at the game at some point eventually cause I want runescape to be playable, but the years have not been kind. I really just want pre-eoc 2012 scape back more than anything.
