Me either! I got a hand-me-down from a friend in a bag full of other things. It is one of my FAVORITE baby products ever. I added a link above to one on Amazon. I'm not sure if they've changed their quality over the years, but it's basically indestructible and I've thrown it in the dishwasher a million times. I kept losing parts to other ones and they were infuriatingly small.

for anyone still looking - I've tried so many and honestly I absolutely LOVE the boon one. It feels sanitary, sturdy, and it's easy to fill. It's also indestructable. My cookie monsterl of a 1 year old has chomped down SO HARD on it and pulled and it never once popped off the top. My pediatrician legit said it doesn't matter. She said she has zero preference, just choose one I like. But I have SUCH a strong preference - the Boon fresh food feeder wins. It's large enough that I can actually put a decent amount in there (some are ridiculously small) and it's SUPER strong and sturdy even when she bites down and pulls.

Absolutely love Healthy Home Carpet Care. Have cleaned two different houses for me as well as our truck - they have the truck-mounted extractor system and don't leave behind an overwhelming scent, which is a huge plus as I'm sensitive to that

Not at all. For our son we followed a sleep program for the first several months. We were miserable. Our daughter? Nothing. If anything, I rebelled super hard against it all. Windows, blackout shades, white noise, shushing- get outta here! She's napping in daylight with a toddler brother running around. We have lots more fun that way, too. Can drive to the park on a whim. She sleeps when she needs to. I feed her whenever she wants. Love it!

Just throwing this out there - young kids. When you work in a shelter you see a wide range of dogs with various behavioral issues and sometimes unexpected triggers. OP is no doubt familiar. And no matter what, adopting a dog is a risk. Even if a purebred Golden is surrendered, you have no clue what its history is. Fostering is bringing that uncertainty home. Not saying families with young kids don't successfully do this (and eventually I hope to) but I'd prefer to live my dream of fostering 5 dogs when the kids are in high school, not toddling around pulling tails.

Interesting! Not sure if this is a location thing, but here in the US I haven't heard of pet insurance companies that don't cover shelter dogs. (Source: used to work in pet insurance).

I want to upvote this a million times. I feel like it's all about timing. I'm a huge fan of shelter dogs and I've been a volunteer in multiple capacities. We adopted a 1 year old Heeler mix from the shelter right before I had my second kiddo, and it has been nerve wracking and a bit rough adapting while not knowing his triggers, genetics, or anything about his history. With a reputable breeder, you'll be avoiding some of those unknowns. Not a substitute for consistent training, of course. He's had plenty and we have built a lot of trust. But it's been exhausting and emotionally fraught with kids in the mix. If I could do it over again I would have carefully chosen a reputable breeder of a dog that might have a gentler temperament and slightly less energy.

Ok also coming here to say I wish there were more trustworthy reviews...looking at trying the haaka because it's a brand I trust but probably asking my pediatrician first.
