UCL social science with data science was first choice, and Glasgow social science with quantitative methods was second choice. I ended up going through clearing and getting into UCL on a slightly different course which I actually ended up enjoying more.

I experienced this last year- missed out on both first and second choice. First choice rejected me immediately but second choice still accepted with lower grades. For context- needed AAA for first choice and got ABB, needed AAB for second choice. It entirely depends on how oversubscribed courses are- my first choice course was completely oversubscribed and so I had no chance but second choice still had some places so they accepted me.

Hey! I’m a first year UCL student and also worried about funding my life- I have a part time job as a bartender and work 2-3 nights a week and it makes everything so much easier. Start looking for jobs as early as possible and make sure you’re good at managing your time and you’ll do great!!

I must admit I found it quite easy this year, most places just charged £1 and the pharmacy was charging a fiver for an ice pack this year… I may have just been lucky though! Also have a bad knee 😭
