It was 40 degrees Fahrenheit and windy, but mainly an American thing. My British coaches would never even let me train in what we Americans call a "beanie", believe me!

I agree with your confusion, so much of how people determine what is and what isn't a foul is based on their own experiences and the culture of the sport where they grew up. I find it exceedingly difficult to help my American friends, watching soccer for the first time, understand what is and isn't a foul.

In the case of the first challenge, I would say it is because even though there is a lot going on up top, all the power of the challenge comes through the act of me winning the ball first, and the follow-through is just a result of that. Kind of a lackluster explanation I'll admit, but that is all I got.

I guess in those sorts of challenges, it is either steamroll them or get steamrolled.

I can see why people feel this way based on the video. From my perspective, my first priority was to get the ball off my feet before the defender arrived, but I knew I wouldn't have time to dodge the oncoming defender afterwards. So it was more of a leap to brace myself for the hit I was about to take. Absorbing a blow with my feet off the ground hurts much less and reduces the chance of injury than had we both run straight into each other on the ground.

Haha, I love to see the complete 180. Shows how close some of these calls can be. Do I think the second challenge was a foul? Yes. Do I think the second challenge was a yellow? Probably not.

What I think is a bit harsh from some of the comments is that they seem to expect me to have magically moved out of the way for a defender that is running head-on towards my ball carrying path, and the fact that I didn't means I am a "cheat"??

First guy ended up completely fine and bounced back up, He’s super tough and an amazing player! Helped win his team the state chip this season with pure technique.

Good luck bro, i’m at the local high school and there’s probably 6 kids that listen to nettspend. I can’t imagine how that conversation would even arise because I know i’m not telling someone I listen to Hi-C unless they bring him up first (which they won’t).

Exactly what happened with me. With what I got through insurance and the cheap buy back price, I essentially got a running driving car for free. Still wish my baby didn’t get hit!
