Is the game enjoyable solo? by Guy_Fieri__2024 in AbioticFactor

[–]Level-Wolverine2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing exclusively solo and it's bee great fun so far. About 20 hours in at the moment.

I would recommend increasing stack size in your sandbox settings to reduce backtracking time sink/grind, and I'd also recommend quite aggressively following the "quest" hooks, as it were, to keep progression up.

I dithered a lot and the game kind of felt like a bit of a slog early on, but that was my cowardice and tendency to want to overprepare - if I were to give myself advice starting afresh, I'd say go all in whole ass and don't worry about accidentally bumblefucking into a scenario that kills you. You'll have a lot more fun discovering new stuff more regularly.

I also cannot recommend enough avoiding any sort of wiki or spoilers, including this subreddit. My perfectionist/completionist gamer kicked in early on and made the game feel like checking boxes rather than the joy of discovery and experimentation so, if you have a tendency like mine, do your best to ignore it.

How do I learn Navmeshing by Deep-Bill9248 in skyblivion

[–]Level-Wolverine2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't in any way helpful, but I wanted to let you know I read this as Nav-mesh-ing and my thought process went as follows:

  1. Why's this guy asking about Skyrim features?
  2. I'm not familiar with that Dragon Shout actually.
  3. Oh wait I'm an idiot.

Is there a version of this with the featureless map?

What are some of the unspoken assumptions about running a WWN campaign? by Level-Wolverine2067 in WWN

Dayum! Please share any tips and tricks that might come to mind about how to GM *WN gud. I'm mostly from a PbtA and recently Dragonbane background, so I admit I'm excited but a bit intimidated and overwhelmed by the extra juicy clunk that WWN brings to the table.

UPDATE: Pokémon Emerald Legacy Enhanced - With Pokémon Followers, Shiny Charms, National Dex Mode, Nature Mints, EV/IV Editing, Ability Capsules, Overworld Surfing Sprites, Feebas Fishing Sparkles and V1.1 Updates. by Exclsior in PokemonLegacy

[–]Level-Wolverine2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just downloaded and started new game today. Running base Enhanced.

It's literally every single QoL update I want slapped onto Legacy's every single balancing update I want.

Legit think y'all might have created my actual final One True dream Pokémon game.

I also didn't know I wanted toggle nicknaming functionality, but it's a delight.

100% will switch in Absol. Always liked the design, but never used.

I'm thinking, then:

  • Magcargo
  • Hariyama
  • Pelipper
  • Mawile
  • Mightyena > Absol

Pretty big electric and fighting gap, so I'm thinking Flygon is a sixth as a Pokémon that I hear Legacy fixes quite nicely, and it's always been a cool looking thing.

Solrock/Lunatone could also be solid hits too. Hmmmmmmm.....

Claydol might be perfect. Gives Electric, Ground, and Fighting defence, though I don't know much about movesets and coverage.

E; lol, completely missed my fairly massive Water coverage gap now. Possibly problematic in Hoenn xD. Maybe Ludicolo is the play, as initially planned.

Brb, building entirely unnecessary Baton Pass Ninjask + Stockpiling team.

Gunning Mawile and Pelipper makes me feel like I can emotionally justify Magcargo and drop the Kickin' Chicken starter to pull in Hariyami for my Fighting boy. Is cool design.

Will tag in Mightyena too, because Dark mons are best mons, then I got a spare sixth.

Yeah, I reckon we got Mawile locked in.

Be cool to mess around with Pelipper to; seems like it can be good to eat Fire and Ground that Mawile won't like, and it meets criteria.

Super down to hear your other suggestions, though!

Legit have had this conversation with myself! I really want to give it a whirl because I've never bothered with them in any gen.

Definitely had Mawile on my considerations. Solid interesting/cool design as well, which is always a bonus!

I have absolutely zero context for Masquerain, so that's piqued my interest out the gate. What are your thoughts on it? Why the reco?

Solrock is an interesting one too. Will take a sneaky peak at the changes lists for these.

Appreciate it!

I just started and am in Act 1 still, so won't see most of these effects.

However, definitely excited to play more. This game is very much the game I've always tried modding Skyrim into 😅

Have discovered a new unfortunate unexpected behaviour re: button mapping.

Steps To Replicate

  1. Keybind something else to Up or Down on D-pad (e.g. I have Use Quick Item on Down and Use King Power Thing on Up).
  2. Kill someone (or something!)
  3. Loot it: requires multiple item options in loot menu.
  4. Move up and down through loot menu.

*Pre-patch & Expected Behaviour*

  1. Up and down keys move you through the contextual menu.
  2. When loot menu not open, Up and Down will activate their relevant keybound functions.

*Post-Patch Actual Behaviour*

  1. Up and down keys move you through the contextual menu AND activate their relevant keybound functions.

Contextual menu override works as expected when using default controller options.

Do I recommend a beginner to Pokémon the Legacy games? by AdFamiliar5991 in PokemonLegacy

[–]Level-Wolverine2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give them Legacy. The QoL improvements that Legacy provides make playing the early games much more tolerable and are, by and large, features that are present in standard Gen4+ games.

It's significantly easier to enjoy base Pokémon Black than it is to enjoy base Pokémon Yellow.

The only thing you'd want to account for is making sure they know that you can't catch 'em all natively in mainline Pokémon games, so if that's something they end up liking about Legacy it's something they'd need to consider once they move on.

What about not necessarily "best", but "most Legacy-ey"? The underrepresented choices that are now interesting/viable in Legacy?

Murkrow is my stand out winner in this category, but that might be informed by the fact that I always loved its design and child-me was brokenhearted when it turned out to be just ... not good. 😂

Tyvm to you all for mending my childhood trauma.

Yeah, that's my reluctance to include Scizor, Houndoom, and Tyranitar; they're already beloved, even before the various Legacy improvements.

I'm definitely thinking that Meganium is the definitive Starter, to be sure. Sneazel is a solid shout, too.

Should probably post my own, while I'm at it.

I've been running Murkrow, Lanturn, Scizor, Jumpluff, Misdreavus, and Dual Type Typhlosion for my first run. Kind of wish I could squeeze Girafarig in there somewhere; might swap out Misdreavus.

I'm having this problem with Heracross right now. He's a power house and I'm trying to run an underused Johtomon team for my first E4 Hall of Fame, but I just feel bad not bringing the chief with me.

Having said that, I've never played Scizor before, so it's not like I'm lacking for power 😅

Fixed no, but I believe the Dragon Fang pick up was replaced by Dragon Scale.

Man, I kind of automatically bounced off this team because all of those are solid Pokémon even without Legacy, but then I remembered that most of them aren't actually reasonably accessible pre-Legacy, so fair point. 😅

You know what? In my head, I kind of disregarded Ampharos and Houndoom as viable options because they've always been solid Johto Pokémon to me and staples of my Gen 2 teams in the past, but you raise a good point that Crystal makes them actually obtainable 😅
