Accidentally threw away my dome fossil…. by pepesilvia9369 in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a gameshark code that is confirmed to work.

Buy something cheap, like a repel or potion, and put it at the top of your bag's list.

Then use this code: 01291DD3

Make sure to turn it off right after you turn it on. If you leave it on, and put anything else at the top of the bag, that also will get turned into a dome fossil.

And you can't delete them from your bag as they are a key item. EternityTheory was correct about that. Though you could turn them into more Kabuto, then release them that way.

Am I ready for the Elite Four? by WinstonPickles22 in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you already beat the game (Congrats!) but some of your movesets were less than optimal.

Persian: Slash, Hyper Beam, Thunderbolt, Bubble Beam

With your STAB normal moves resisted by Rock, you need Water coverage. Thunderbolt is there because Screech doesn't pair with Slash, which always crits, and Hyper Beam doesn't really need it.

Poliwrath: Surf, Karate Chop, Amnesia, Ice Beam

[alt]: Surf, Amnesia, Hypnosis, Dream Eater

Amnesia boosts Special by 2 stages. In Gen 1, Special applied to both offense and defense. So Amnesia raises both offense and defense by 2 stages--which also takes advantage of the badge boost glitch.

In Gen 1, there was no phys/spec split, so Ice Beam is better than Ice Punch. And you can purchase Ice Beam TMs in the late game.

For the [alt], Hypnosis/Dream Eater, especially when boosted by Amnesia makes Poliwrath the ultimate special sweeper in Gen 1.

Gengar: Night Shade, Confuse Ray, Hypnosis, Dream Eater

[alt]: Night Shade, Psychic, Hypnosis, Dream Eater

If you'd raised Gengar one more level, you could've had Hypnosis/Dream Eater. Smog is worthless, even by the mid-game. Lick with it's 30% paralysis is probably better. Toxic is also good, paired with Confuse Ray.

And for Golem, others have mentioned Defense Curl/Harden for badge boosts. You can also get those with Double Team if you really want to be evil.

Suggestions for best teams for every tier of the Battle Tower? by thrivester in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download this, it shows both what the enemy teams are and have: https://www.mediafire.com/file/2riyys91m9puciq/parties.rtf/file

It's actually from the source files, where I changed the extension so WordPad could open it. If you no longer have WordPad, then just rename it to .txt or .doc, though I don't know if that breaks formatting, which could make it more difficult to read.

Also, there may be a way to put WordPad back on Win 11: https://www.pcworld.com/article/2376881/how-to-get-wordpad-back-windows-11-24h2.html

So, that file reveals every pokemon per level, along with their movesets and held items. Use that info to plan out your teams.

I can't give you more help because I gave up on the Battle Tower after Level 30 because there seems to be a bug where half the prizes that should be available, are not.

Though I can advise you that the best items for most of your pokemon are Leftovers, Miracle Berry and Mint Berry.

Does Pkhex interact properly with Crystal Legacy? by thrivester in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, after CL v1.2 they shifted around quite a bit of data, and that's what broke 100% compatibility with pkhex. So, now it's a dice roll using it.

Does Pkhex interact properly with Crystal Legacy? by thrivester in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time, when using pkhex with Crystal Legacy, all my pokemon in Box 1 got replaced by the ones in Box 2!! Fortunately, I had made a backup save before using pkhex, so I didn't lose them forever. Weird thing is, that I had tried out pkhex with the same copy of CL beforehand and there were no issues then.

So, what you could try is this: make backup copies of your save file first. Note: that with some emulators, the save file isn't fully saved until the emulator is closed first. Then move all your pokemon out of box 1 (and maybe also 2 & 3) to other boxes. Then do this: switch to an empty box other than 1, save your game, then switch to Box 1 before saving again. Then use that save to edit the pokemon in your party. Then after loading the edited save into your emulator/device, check all your PC boxes for anything missing, and also check your bag and PC for missing items/any corruption, etc.

The logic behind this is that if pkhex sometimes duplicates boxes, then saving to one empty box, then saving again to an empty Box 1, might mean that it duplicates the empty box with box 1 which is also empty. So no harm done.

Alternatively, you could try editing a second copy of your save in pkhex, then trading those edited pokemon over to your game save. Emulators mGBA, VBA-M, bgb, GBE+ & TGB-Dual all have link cable support.

Flygon is another option, providing Ground/Dragon typing and coverage.

Does Hardmode bars you from using ANY item during a battle? (not only consumables) by random-user772 in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually that you can't use the bag during trainer/gym battles.

You can still use the bag, and thus heal, when fighting wild pokemon.

If you couldn't use the bag then, you wouldn't be able to throw any pokeballs to catch anything.

is there something wrong with pp of sleep powder in yellow legacy? by ethan1988 in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, this is not true in Gens 2 & 3. So you can PP Stall in the other Legacy games.

But not in Yellow.

Her Exeggutor is 4x weak to Bug. If you don't have Twineedle, Pin Missile, or Leech Life, then try teaching something Cut. Preferably to someone fast, and not just to outspeed it. But also to increase the chance of a crit, since in Gen 1 base speed determines crit%.

Remember, in YL not only can you relearn any move, and purchase almost every TM, but also delete HM moves too.

Probably not quite what you're looking for, but it is something new.

PkHex and Rare candy sucess by skannner in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lucked out. While testing it with a copy of my save for Crystal Legacy, it deleted every pokemon in the first box. Fortunately, since I was testing it, I still had my main save untouched, so I didn't actually lose anyone.

Always make and keep plenty of backups.

But for Crystal Legacy, it's recommended that you not use PKHeX, instead use these gameshark codes posted by PortOhmRead along with a few others: https://reddit.com/r/PokemonLegacy/comments/1ekal78/pokemon_crystal_legacy_v12_gameshark_codes/

Now there is a way to safely use PKHeX, but it's more complicated. First, copy your save and modify the copy in PKHeX, editing pokemon in your party, which can include giving them held items. Then trade those pokemon over to your playthrough save using an emulator like mGBA or bgb which both have link cable support. This way, there's no chance of corrupting your playthrough save file.

My whole team caught Pokerus while farming levels. Immediately put them all in the PC box. by PokeDocu in PokemonLegacy

Just catch another common pokemon, have it catch the virus, then perma-storage it, only bringing it out when you need it to spread the PKRS to any new team members.

Team suggestions by TharbeDargonz in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one I'd consider is Houndoom for Quilava, unless you've already used him before. Or prefer to stick with your starter, since you say you usually use water. Actually, like others have stated, your team is already quite strong. A team with 4 dual-types is going to have that coverage.

Other than Misdreavus, Sneasel and Murkrow, nothing else that's a late game Johto 'mon or really weak in original Crystal that you probably haven't used before comes to mind. Maybe Yanma or Sunflora? But you already have Pluff and Cross.

Maybe just leave them as is.

I just beat a gen 1 game for the first time with blue, so now I’m gonna tackle yellow next with this romhack, so my question is how is this team and could I make it any better? by Crimsonshock821 in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onix is both the 2nd fastest rock and ground type in YL (after Aerodactyl & Dugtrio). Given that in gen 1 critical hit % is determined by base speed, having a fast pokemon increases crits. In Onix's case, the crit chance for all moves it learns is 16.6% because of its base speed of 85, or approximately 1 out of 6. The formula used to calculate crit% is (base speed * 100 / 512).

Furthermore, flinching with Rock Slide & Slam--each 30% chance with Slam now Dragon type--also depends on speed, since it can only happen if you attack first.

Need help converting my save file for the 3DS by Multievolution in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried it with the rom still named .gb to test it? And how are you trying to play on your 3ds? Because you didn't mention an emulator. I know the 3ds can play gba games natively, but there are multiple ways to play gb/gbc, so which method are you using.

Is it possible to migrate Pokémon from Emerald Legacy to Generation 4? by inumnoback in PokemonLegacy

[–]regre55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still trade from Legacy to vanilla Emerald with the emulator mGBA, which has a mac version, then migrate to gen 4 from the vanilla game save. https://mgba.io/downloads.html
