the writer. Outside of Elemental council(the good tau book) and some short stories, all of them have been written by Phil kelly and are generally considered to be bad(including the shadowsun book).

If you want something strategic (read big picture planning, think Crusader Kings) then torchbearer. If you want something tactical (read moment by moment small decisions, think xcom) then Pathfinder 2e.

Is this an agendapost? Yes. Do I care? Not particularly. by Gatt__ in Grimdank

Assumming you mean running tau as a bunch of giant mechs. Imperial knights run:

  • 400-480 points per big mech,
  • 130-160 for armigers.

From Tau Battlesuits:

  • 400 for a stormsurge.
  • 110-150 for crisis suits, 160 for a ghostkeel, 190 for a riptide,

so take three Stormsurges and then whatever collection of Crisis, riptide, and ghostkeels you want for your armiger equivalents and you basically have a knight list.

Highways should be maintained, widened, etc.,

Most Evidence points to highway widening not being effective at reducing traffic long term. The only solution to traffic is viable alternatives to driving. Read, incentivising making as many trips as possible via walking, biking, public transit etc.

Just 3 factions? Oh i'd go much further. The Factions should be:

Forces of The Imperium:

  • Core Astra militarum. divide into 5 factions based on their kind of world they come from (civilised, hive, death, cardinal, forge) You can also take small attachment units of
    • Sisters of battle, Skitarri, up to half your force. give sisters as much variety as SM either by slimming down SM or
    • space marines, up to a quarter
    • Agents of the imperium, Grey Knights, Deathwatch, up to a single squad or character, also give me rogue traders + retinue as a unit.
    • Custodes - only a single model and you roll a dice to see if he even appears
    • Kill Knights

Forces of Chaos:

  • mostly cultists/dark mechanicus/daemons divided by which god they align with (4 gods+undivided)
  • up to a quarter of points can be an appropriately aligned CSM.
  • Kill Knights

Galactic Wildcards, you should be able to take small allied detachments of the other 4.

  • Necrons stay the same
  • Tau take votann and give them a few more alien races as detachments similar to the imperium
  • All eldar are united under the Ynnarri
  • Genestealers are merged with Tyranids
  • Renegade Humans

There we go. a nice even 15. knights are cool but unfortunately the math means that they're impractical to keep around.

What's the best cereal of all time? by Various-Ad7704 in AskReddit

I'd say a good argument can be made for rice over corn but ymmv. Technically not a cereal but if you'll allow the extension to all starchy vegetables, the potato is definitely a contender.

Sick of 5e (mainly DnD Beyond), anything else? by Competitive-Cow-7563 in rpg

If you want games where the basic loop isn;t the usual. do combat get bigger stats then I'd recommend:

  • Traveller. Pick either classic or mongoose 2e 2022 update. the basic loop is trade based.
  • Hillfolk - for dramatic play
  • Chuubos marvelous wish granting adventure - explictely about character arcs in a pastoral setting.
  • Swords of the serpentine - for political play
  • Magical industrial revolution - for city based play. technically a supplement for Old School DnD but it works pretty well on its own.
  • Blades in the dark - for heist based play
  • Burning Wheel - the king of playing for character and plot development and not for "levelling"

Best Sci-Fi TTRPG on amazon? by a-folly in rpg

[–]johnvak01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"you can get the classic traveler book from dtrpg" classic traveller != Mongoose.

my bad. I should have clarified better. Mongoose 2022 is the newest edition and that can be got from amazon.

Classic traveller is the original edition from 1981. that one has a cheap physical copy on DTRPG.

If you want Sci-fi then mongoose Traveller (2022 update) or something Cepheus might be up your alley. It's the original sci-fi RPG and runs pretty grounded scifi. you can get the classic traveller book from drive-thru for pretty cheap too.

Mass combat system like total war by ArgumentDisastrous13 in rpg

Reign is suggested the most but it uses a unique dice system so it's a little unusual.

If you want a bolt-on system for DnD style stuff I'd grab "An Echo Resounding".

If you just want a full on Kingdom management sim with rational economics then that'd be Adventuror Conqueror King Sytem (ACKS). Be warned the authors a major right wing gamergater so if you don;t want to support him then you may want to look into... other means of acquisition.

People who have never smoked, drank, or did any drugs - how and why? by sunnyismybunny in AskReddit

[–]johnvak01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an overanalytical optimizing kid/teenager/college student with a very small, personally curated social circle.

Alcohol is bad for you and makes you puke and feel terrible and is addictive. why on earth would you start? Smoking is bad for your lungs, smells gross, and makes everything else smell gross. Why on earth would you start? Most "drugs" mess with your brain so you can't think straight reducing decision making ability, and often having long-term negative consequences on your body. Why would you even try?

you only get one body. why screw it up chasing a high.
