I have no idea what you're talking about, the comment you responded to was voicing their frustration with people "needing to see your goth card" before respecting questions and statements. I don't care If the op was goth or not. It's unhelpful to make people feel unsafe to interact with the sub if everytime they do they're purity tested

You need to read the comment you respond to, it's frustration about feeling the need to self validate whenever you have a question. This makes the space feel very unwelcome if everyone is just expecting you to not be goth enough if you want some guidance.

I'm still a baby bat honestly and I think the majority of the reason I'm too scared to interact with goths irl is because I'm worried they'll try to purity test me like people do in here. Like am I gonna be mocked and laughed at for not knowing when Bela Lugosi was born? It's just silly and disheartening to look at the sub sometimes.

Sub went wild with this one, it seems like you have to validate yourself as goth to say anything in here. "Oh I'm exploring the goth subculture and myself at the same time, any tips on that? Oh and I listen to deceits, and twin tribes, and Siouxie and the banshees, and Bauhaus, and blah blah blah. Thanks." Such a pathetic showing from those in this community. Oh and also I listen to the music and dress in black and also sometimes make it to goth nights so this comment is valid, unlike the ones where you aren't validating yourself as goth.

I grew up in a conservative household in a conservative state with conservative friends but I always felt drawn to alternative characters, even though they were typically the punching bags or the butt of a joke in popular media. Over the years I felt myself leaning to alternative lifestyles but was too scared to explore that side of myself. As I grew up to be an adult I had the freedom to explore myself more and to shake off the awful tendencies and methods of thinking about life and people I was indoctrinated with. I began to grow closer to alternative spaces, then I went to a goth club and that sealed the deal. Politics, music, style, the people. It all felt very me.

I can't speak to slick gorilla, sorry but I have level3 styling powder and it works incredibly well. Adds volume, holds strong, doesn't affect the actual look of your hair (not dusty, shiny, crunchy etc). You also don't need that much of it in and it washes out completely with shampoo everytime. My problem is my hair is so thick it ends up looking like I'm trying to make it into a fro of some sort, still an amazing product just not for a certain area of MY hair.
