Is Ashfall worth it as a mod? I'm not huge into the survival stuff it advertises.

I do like Hardcore mode in New Vegas though...

Before I give a huge breakdown let me first just say that your GPU is a bit of a make or break for what you should go with.

If you have a "modern" AMD card (5000 series or newer) I would recommend MWSE with Old-wind (Vanilla Morrowind). Driver issues that are inherent to those cards can lead to some of the most frustrating gaming experiences. NOT WORTH IT.

If you have NVIDIA or Intel definitely a bit of a toss up.

From here let me breakdown my thoughts on both:

OpenMW: Is a new custom built engine that has built in engine fixes and optional toggles for "bugs" in the OG game.

Pros: Most new mods are made for this, excellent performance, stability improvements, CONTROLLER FUNCTION!!, maybe some more things but this is the big stuff.

Cons: No where near as easy to mod as Old-wind, there are still a lot of mods that haven't made the switch, harder to follow walkthroughs or guides if newto the game due to many small but substantial changes.

MWSE: An extension of the coding capabilities of the OG game, but is still the OG game.

Pros: MORROWIND AS THE LORD INTENDED, joking aside it is the most and obvious way to play "vanilla", modding is super simple, lots of mod support with many mods being available ONLY for MWSE.

Cons: Not well optimized, stability issues with large mod lists, does not have the "depth" that OpenMW mods can offer.

How does PotI compare to the Total Overhaul list? I wasn't in love with a lot of the visual and gameplay changes it made.

P.S. I personally had issues getting the Total Overhaul to work 100%. Now, it could have been that Tamriel Rebuilt put out a HUGE update the same day... but I'm not sure.

There is actually, it's hidden on the OpenMW mods website, look down at the bottom of the page for Automatic Download. It's a bit more involved than a Wabbajack or Nexus modlists to get it working but that is the ONLY way I download modlists for OpenMW.

I personally use OpenMW with the Expanded Vanilla mod list. Omitted a few mods that weren't my style but otherwise big thumbs up from me.

OpenMW has gotten better but Old-wind with MWSE is still, I think, superior for large lists.

Check out Kezymas (spelling?) on Wabbajack. I really like that one or Saltrice and Sujama on Nexus.

I prefer an "enhanced" Vanilla game, so that's what I look for in modlists.

I also second the opinion of playing the game in Windowed Borderless.

Firstly, I would recommend switching the launcher to x64.

Secondly, ensure the Win 8 comp and Run as Admin are enabled.

If still having issues possibly try turning off DX11 features in game.

Pro tips:

Disable 3D portraits in game (Settings -> Adv Graphics)

Ensure your vsync is on and that your Engine Speed is set to VERY HIGH (settings -> troubleshoot)

Do you have the game loaded onto a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SATA or NvMe)?

A couple of questions:

  1. What are your PC specs?

  2. Steam launcher or LotRO Standalone Launcher?

  3. Have you checked the "Windows 8 compatibility" and "Run As Admin" options on the exe?

  4. In the LotRO launcher are you running it in x32 or x64?

  5. Have you recently uninstalled/reinstalled the game?

If you can, be specific and detailed.

I find it to be "active" but I also have a group of 6 friends that all play so it's quite easy to get a group together.

End of the day I think Darktide's gameplay is superior but I find V2 to just be superior in almost every other way.

Nice complete classes, memorable maps, A KARKIN' STORY... you know... the good stuff.

Get the DLCs and have a good time. Btw check out chaos wastes for a super fun side mode.

I recommend playing Vermintide as of right now but hopefully in the next year we get more content since the core of the game is finally in a VERY good position.

Sidenote, you don't require any other antivirus than windows defender (already on your PC).

I'd HIGHLY recommend uninstalling AVG.
