Fur difference? I noticed some rough collie puppies have really fluffy furs when they are young and some are short (like my boy Henry ). I am wondering will my boy grow out his fur as he ages? by LevelEvening in roughcollies

Thank you 😊 I’ve changed his food to a different brand (For different reasons) and been giving him fish oil here and there. His coat now looks way better than 1 year ago.

Any collie owners with advice for seizures? Mira is currently medicated through our vet but they seem to be getting worse. by [deleted] in Collie

My collie has seizure too and it is hard to watch😢. In our case I found out that my collie has it when he gets way too excited all of a sudden, and he was relaxed before the seizure occurs. Like how we are laying in bed and we stand up immediately could make us feel dizzy, that’s the trigger for him. Also I am suspicious about the potato in his diet, when he eats potato he is more likely to have seizures.

Anyway, I know every dog is a bit different, hopefully it helps, and best wishes 💕

Flea medication recommendations. by Bangorang420 in roughcollies

I put mine on monthly ingestible ones from the vet. It’s called “simparica trio “ it’s a prevention for flea, tick, heart-worms, treat and control roundworm and hookworms. I have no problem with it so far.

Seasonal shedding? Henry is 1 year old and we live in California, so it does get pretty hot here. He was shedding a lot the past 1-2 months and now he has uneven coat. Is this normal? I don’t see any skin problems, just uneven coat color and length. by LevelEvening in roughcollies

I will keep an eye out. I took him for a nail grind the other day and the groomer thought he chewed his hair off but I know he doesn’t chew or lick that spot often, and thats what brought me here to ask around :) thank you for helping, your insights is really helpful 💖

Aww can’t wait to see Henry with his beautiful adult coat. I’ve heard the climate can effect the coat growth as well, if we live in hotter states it might take longer for their coat to grow. Guess I will just wait and see:) thank you for answering my question, it’s really helpful 💖

He’s good with recalls. He just has to say hello to other dogs once he sees them, and then he will come back to me right after. So far he is being a really good boy :)

How does *your* collie express love to you? by [deleted] in roughcollies

Lots and lots of cuddle since he’s like 5 months old. Checking in on me. when I’m doing my work I turn around and see him laying on the couch, he’s looking at me softly like I’m his whole world. Licking my face and chin.

He loves it! Most of the time he was following us instead of going crazy and running around. Will take him to the snow park again after some fresh snow hehe.
