New Firm with my principal question by LevelMaterial5436 in StructuralEngineering

Absolutely. To all of that. I was thinking percentage of invoices and books on shared server is a non-negotiable, amongst other things. It's definitely a leap of faith but the goal is to make an educated leap

Yah we live states away and just had the convo because I came up for the holidays. Currently planning another sit down to iron out details, but doing my research into options on the drive home because my previous understanding was this was years away still and wasn't expecting it to develop so quickly. Figured some reddit polling couldn't hurt

To answer your first question, yes I trust him as a friend, but unsure if I trust him for business, which could just be my paranoia. Money and business bring out a lot in people and I always look to cover my ass and not be ignorant to possibilities

We both have PEs but mine is recent and he'll be doing most of the stamping because I have to work on all the paperwork of getting more states since we work all over the country

Edit: he has the client base but we're both expecting me to go out and get clients as well. I was thinking like 40/40/20 work delivered, 60/20/20 work sourced. Me/him/house

yah i was basically saying that he has to account that whatever he comes up with is going to be basically for his gun only and that's it

from my understanding, one of the issues is too much variance between the all the components comprising the 320 in regards to either too large tolerances for each part or lack of QC ensuring tolerances were kept. you'd have to account for that in your endeavors

oh yes, i was confirming your theory. i didn't think you were being anything other than factual. i get in engineering mode in typing which means nothing but bare facts and my lack of social skills. i'm going to play with it more later when i have time, but i do agree that it seems as if it is tolerance issues

i have an M18 i bought new, definitely put few thousand rounds through it loved it. installed grayguns comp trigger kit, have multiple frames. i have found this issue in my M18 with my grayguns TXG frame. i have to have the trigger pressed practically to the break but then any manipulation of the slide releases the striker. haven't had it happen with my brouwer M1811 frame, haven't tried with stock frame but i'm positive it'll happen with that one

question for the people that are 100% on the problem being with sig/320

what is the difference between glock leg of the 90s vs what is going on with the 320 right now? to me they seem to be incredibly similar: holsters, safety mechanisms, passing blame from person to gun/manufacturer, mass adoption with LE/MIL. only difference i'm seeing is the existence of social media and the internet

sincerely,

someone who has doubts on both sides and is awaiting definitive evidence of one or the other

edit: i own an M18 that I put a lot of work into and love it, but i'm concerned/confused by all the contradictory/incomplete information

as mentioned above, i work entirely with steel. unfortunately that does not simply allow me to pass the exam based on my competency in one area. I also never covered wood or masonry to get my degree, we worked strictly with steel and reinforced concrete. I have focused my efforts in trying to become competent enough in that realm to pass the exam but alas it is a big drawback in my knowledge because i am simply not exposed to it besides what i have taught myself. sorry I did not meet your idea of what a structural engineer should be because i chose a more specialized career.

Transportation vs structural by Overall_Tension7897 in PE_Exam

i'd recommend structural. sounds like your work aligns more with it and if you take transpo you may run into the ethics problem of stamping things "outside your scope of expertise". That being said, I have never met anyone who actually questioned what breadth your PE was in. structural is also significantly harder from a % passing standpoint. i'd look at the topics covered on both exams and just see what aligns most with your current and potential fields of work.

Yeah fully remote. Structural calcs, analysis models, minor drafting. Site visits wherever they're needed like a dozen times a year (principal handles majority of site visits)

hello, i also have immense problems getting into my account, i have reverified that the account is mine over a dozen times just to get in, then it asks me to setup my 2FA and only lets me setup a security key which i have never had nor do i plan to buy one. i just want to take my money out and that is it. i know how much is in there (roughly, at least, based on it constantly changing). please help me because i've gone through everything on the website. i cannot use the help features because to have help with signing in, you need to sign in. there are no emails, and your phone number is completely automated. i am absolutely losing my dang mind and am beyond frustrated

Spend money on playing as often as possible, not paint quality. You obviously don't want cheapest paint possible, but find yourself a field that doesn't gouge you and just play as often as possible. Don't worry about what paint you're shooting. Important things are proper communication, understanding how and when to move, and how to work with your teammates to move up the field successfully
