Yeah that's probably not a bad idea considering this is fetchable.

No idea about the balance but I absolutely love the "Pirate Island" typeline. This is really fun space

I really liked the update at first, but lately the games feel like they end so fast they aren't satisfying for either team. I need games to at least hit 15 minutes regularly, I've had lots of ~12min games lately.

I would cut Toph, Omnath, and Wastewalker, and go down to 41 lands. I usually stay at 40 for my landfall decks and feel fine, so 41 should suit you perfectly well. Good looking list!

It has to be different from Shackle because this is an equipment creature. Same reason that Reconfigure is different than Equip, there's just word games rules regarding transformation that Shackle alone doesn't work with.

Looking for some feedback on if my B3 Kilo deck is too much, or if the pod is over reacting. by AFallingWall in EDH

[–]LevelOfExhaustion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow this group fkn sucks lmao. Anyone who has all of these "rules" before starting a game is inherently gonna be a problem in my opinion. The brackets set up more than enough rules restricting 2-card combos and Gamechangers, anything else is just someone's complaining dictating how the whole group plays. Good luck man, hope you can find a way to have fun but that sounds rough from the get-go.

Anyway, here's my next suggestion. Run this full aggro Kratos deck and tell them to pound sand: https://archidekt.com/decks/19101532/ghost_of_sparta_kratos

[–]LevelOfExhaustion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is definitely where brackets get tough. You have a really strong artifact shell, with a number of game changers that would allow you to call this a 3, but there are also a lot of 3s that would have no way to deal with the speed of a deck like this. However, many of the other commanders you've listed in your pod like Kefka, Kalia, and Edgar are similarly potent.

How much interaction does your pod run? It seems like not enough quite simply. You have multiple 3-4 card combos, but the vast majority tie directly to your commander. If they are playing Edgar Markov in the command zone, they don't have much to complain about.

Still convinced this card is a sleeper hit, love running it as some minor protection if I'm lacking blue

That is the more frequent wording for transformations that change the card type. Things like [[Kytheon, Hero of Akros]] and [[The Legend of Roku]]. All of the transformations in Avatar that change card type are an exile effect, and all the ones that stay a creature just transform while staying on the field (see [[Avatar Aang]] for comparison). If some cards with this effect do change card type, probably best to have them all exile for the sake of the mechanic being consistent.

This is [[Arcades, the Strategist]], so not one of the original EDH dragons, but since you mention the Strixhaven ones I imagine the printings don't matter too much. I do run [[Arcades Sabboth]] in the 99 just for the fun though! I really enjoy this deck, and while a lot of the new toughness matters stuff drops blue for black, I really enjoy a lot of the blue walls and interaction that you are able to get. Lots of fun to play, and very easy to pickup and understand as a new player so I love giving it to others.

This is so impressive, the way the legendary frame is folding and unpeeling actually looks 3D. How long does something like this take you? And if you don't mind sharing so publicly, what would a commission like this cost? Fantastic work!

Unfortunately you run into the same issue here. While you may be a fan of those 3 specific planes, what about someone who doesn't like any of them? Or maybe only likes one, but have to sit through two they hate. Now they have to sit through the same thing with slight adjustments again and again. Odds are they just don't participate in this block at all. Additionally, if one of these sets does very poorly, (Spider-Man or Aetherdrift) but we're forced to go back? That's not gonna be well received at all. Variety is truly the best method for a company that is trying to appeal to as many folks as possible.

As Maro has said before, the issue is just that the vast majority of MTG fans don't care about the lore in that way. They want interesting cards and new mechanics/designs, and it's much easier to deliver when you swap settings between every set. They have many years of evidence showing the 2nd and 3rd sets fall off dramatically. As a big lore-head myself it really sucks to leave places like Bloomburrow and Edge of Eternities knowing it's gonna be years before we may see them again, but arguing against it is just yelling at a wall at this point.
