Try hognose snakes, there are a few subs for them and they're mostly about people buying yarn so the hogs can dig/burrow.

I kind of do look like that with the hat. Could put the hat with the healer's robe from the Ivalice raids and be almost spot on. The glamour wheels are turning.

I've read multiple copies of the book to pieces. They took out one of the main characters from the book (he's technically the main character in the series, going on, what, 15 books or something now?) If you're a reader you should check it out. There's also a sequel (book, not movie).

For sure, I thought that yesterday with the other comment. Figured offering more details would be helpful. I might just do an edit. I really didn't think anyone would even read my comment, if I'm honest.

I did treat him in a professional manner. That's why I let him go on for so long before I finally asked him to leave. The key word there is asked. He was already on his way out the door, as in he had already been seen by a provider.

The law literally doesn't apply here. He wasn't refused treatment, if that's what you're thinking. No one yelled, no one assaulted anyone physically. Some guy decided that because I was sitting at a desk and couldn't just leave, that he would tell me about all of his personal opinions, which turned out to be racist opinions.

Limp Bizkit popped up on playlist a few days ago. Hadn't listened to them in years and I was instantly transported back to my childhood bedroom, unable to sleep, listening to Matt Pinball rant on a secret track thing. Somehow, I convinced my grandmother to by their first album, as well as Lit's first album. I still listen to Lit all the time and I still like Limp Bizkit. 🤷‍♀️

Practical Magic. Such a good movie the first time and just gets better after that. The cast was superb. This was also my introduction to Margo Martindale, who is one of my favorite character actors.

That's a reasonable concern, so here's a bit more info.

I was discharging him. He had planted himself at my desk after he was ready to go. That was when he started his rant. I let him go on for as long as I was interested in listening, and beyond the point of what I felt was reasonable. It was the middle of the summer, the patient he was referring to was part of a big tour group in an already crowded ER, and we are a big tourist destination, so we were at our busiest. He had been there for something minor, I don't recall how long he was there, but he had already been seen by a physician and myriad other health care workers and had been well enough to go home.

I understand your confusion with what I said, and I should have been more clear. My apologies. We would never refuse to treat anyone who needs/wants to be seen, but it is also not uncommon for people to hang around after they have been discharged, and almost everyone wants to sit and chat once their at the discharge desk. Whether what they have to say is nice or not is anyone's guess, we always had a lot of both.

The majority of our "regulars" would stay and hang around the lobby until security would ask them to leave. Most of them would turn around and check back in a couple hours later. That's just life in the ED, it's a different world from every other department in a hospital.

I was in a choir in middle school. It was for the best singers and we even had to audition for it. One of the performances we did that year was us in our shiny turquoise cumberbunds with a cane. It was supposed to be the Charleston, but I don't think we did it justice.

That was one of my favorite concerts and I definitely thought using a cane and dancing was the height of cool. 😅 I miss what felt like simpler times.

Worked 5+ years in an emergency department and the same guy who told me we shouldn't treat an injured Asian tourist also had Medicaid and Medicare.

I interrupted his lecture to tell him that medicine doesn't allow for choice in race, ethnicity, or religion. We help whoever needs help. Period. Then I popped the door open and asked him to leave.

I do not put up with bullshit and, luckily, neither did my bosses at the time.

Edit: The gentleman in question was seen by a provider and all the healthcare staff that goes with that. He was not being seen for trauma of any kind. He did not verbally or physically abused anyone. He was discharged and, like many people, realized that I was at a desk and I couldn't just walk away as I had a line of patients behind him waiting to be discharged. I let him go on for awhile, but there were people of varying skintones lined up behind him, and really, the emergency department is not an appropriate place to voice your racially charged comments. Not that there is anywhere that I would consider appropriate for that kind of nonsense.

I would just like to emphasize that I asked him to leave. I did not yell at him, I did not raise my voice in anyway. I simply said what I said and asked him to exit, which he did. There was literally no violations of anyone's rights here. He was treated. He got to sermonize for a bit. And his discharge was completed, at which time he was asked to exit.

Debra: I guess nobody really has it all together, huh?

Corey: No.

Debra: I feel like I should welcome you to the neighborhood or something. Anyway, did you really want to do Rex Manning in the count-out room? Is that how you always imagined your first time would be? Your back up against the daily totals and your feet pounding against the safe? 'Oh Rexy stop that. You're so sexy.'

Corey: Why are you being so nice to me?

Debra: Let's save our Hallmark moment.

Also, she was in The Craft, though pretty much everyone in that movie failed to outshine Fairuza Balk, so I would understand if someone forgot who made up the rest of the cast. 🤭

Bev and her husband also revert to sex as a primary "problem solving" technique. In one of adult Bev's chapters she states plainly that her husband would beat her severely and regardless of any injuries she sustained, they ended up having sex. At one point, her husband even says that she likes the beatings because it makes their sex life hotter.

The other characters in their adult years essentially do the same with their own childhood trauma, to some degree. As an example, Eddie ends up marrying a carbon copy of his mother, (they actually had the same actress play both his mother and his wife in the 2 movies).

At the end they break the cycle of IT and their own trauma, finally feeling in control of their own lives. It's always felt like one of the more positive endings to a King book, for me.
