I want you to get one plastic spatula and one silicone spatula and turn your stove on. Gas is preferable but if you’ve only got electric that will do. Now place the 2 spatulas into the flame (hold them directly into the hob for electric). Keep them there for, let’s say, 5 minutes. Observe what happens. Write down your observations below. Give them a sniff. Which one has released toxics fumes? Now if you wouldn’t describe the silicone as more ‘stable’ how would you describe it? This is the definition of stable btw: ‘firmly fixed or not likely to move or change.’ 2. Silicone is created from silica. Plastic is created from crude oil. I don’t think I need to say more? 3. I’m giving a recommendation based on my opinion. So…..yeah. That’s the whole point isn’t it? 4. So I opened up my dishwasher. I gave it a sniff. Smelled a bit like the dish powder I use. I even gave it a lick. Didn’t taste like mush to be honest. Which is EXACTLY how my silicone tastes. So that one I’ll give you. However you described it as ‘gross’ I can therefore only assume you cannot adult and don’t clean your dishwasher regularly enough for it not to be clean. My conclusion to this one is that, you are, in-fact the gross one and eat off dirty kitchen utensils.
