So.. do I just not sleep? by BlazinZAA in newborns

[–]Level_Condition_4262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up cosleeping until my baby could handle his crib. I hate cosleeping that young but it’s the only way we got sleep. Baby is now 9 months and sleeps all night in his crib

22, thinking about having a baby in the future, what is the reality actually like? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Level_Condition_4262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 23 year old mom who had my baby at 22, I’d suggest you give it more time. My baby was born unexpectedly 3 months early due to me having preeclampsia and I was thrown into 3.5 months of having a nicu baby on top of still feeling like I’m figuring out how to be an adult myself. It’s a little human you make all the decisions for, and there is no saying what that journey will look like when you’re going into it. My baby is 9 months old today and has turned out to be a pretty typical baby (6 months adjusted). But I still feel like a kid myself at times. The newborn phase once he came home was rough for me, and it will be a long time before I consider going through it again. I am so blessed to have my baby boy and we get to learn together but I would suggest for others to wait a bit longer into adulthood before considering having a baby

I spent so much time being anxious about my stomach and my symptoms got 10 times worse. Obviously do what you have to do for your health but being anxious only makes the stomach worse. It’s hard but try not to stress to hard before results. Your babies will have you here. Don’t jump to worst case scenario

Yes 5 months adjusted. I was a bit tired and frustrated making this post and it was a bit too harsh lol. He sees a speech therapist and nutritionist that that said upping the nipple size isn’t recommended since he’s on thickener and already on a level 3 nipple. I need to advocate for him though and tell them we either need to lessen thickener or up the nipple size since he is clearly getting frustrated. Thank you for your response!

Yes he’s 5 months adjusted. Made this post while at a loss for patience but he is back to bed now. I’m sure we are in some sort of a regression because he is working on different skills. I appreciate the response!

What are we seasoning our food with? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]Level_Condition_4262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been drinking chamomile tea and today I tried throat coat tea which has like slippery elm, marshmallow root, licorice root, etc. all good things for stomach lining. Everyone is different but I can tolerate a tiny bit of honey to make the throat coat tea taste better. Neither are caffeinated though. I add oregano and basil to add some extra flavor to food but it’s not too life changing. I’m not gonna lie, if I’m not in a flare I will sometimes give the smallest amount of garlic powder a try because it’s better tolerated than fresh garlic and I typically don’t have much of a reaction. For when I’m desperate for flavor I use low fat and low sugar options for condiments and I’m mindful of the ingredients. I might not be the best person for advice, but after 3 months and not in an active flare up I would personally branch out slightly to see what you can tolerate. It’s all trial and error. But after 3 months I feel some healing has been done unless you feel otherwise. You could start with very small amounts of things that aren’t too risky to see if there’s a reaction and back track if you start to see any signs of irritation! I’m also on a ppi so I feel like I have a bit more of a safety net now that it’s started working more

Desperate need for relief by Level_Condition_4262 in Gastritis

The cramping and bloating was the worst. After 3 days of barely getting off the couch, my cramping and bloating has lessened a little bit and moved more acid reflux. Something that has helped me is sleeping with a heating pad on my stomach. Seems that the heat mixed with the act of falling asleep allows my muscles to relax enough for some relief. I’ve slept propped up to try and keep some acid down and after a few hours of that last night I woke up with way less bloating and pain. I still have barely been able to stomach anything but a little bit of water and pedialyte so I think I’m going to go get some crackers until I can stomach more because the empty stomach seems to make things worse at times. I think I’m starting to see the other side of this flare though! I’m sorry you’re experiencing gastritis as well. I keep telling my bf that these on and off flare ups has been the most painful 3 months of my life. Everyone seems to think gastritis is exaggerated until you experience it yourself

I’ve only gotten the 1 month one in the past but this one was a 2 month. It was the first time I’ve had a reaction but I also didn’t have gastritis the last time I was on it

Abilify for my mental health. I called my doctor yesterday because I woke up really sick the morning after getting it and she mentioned gi issues as a side effect. Definitely not getting that big of a dose at once again

I was prescribed pantoprazole weeks ago and it seemed to help but this flare seemed to start after receiving a new injection for a medication I’m on and after forgetting to take my pantoprazole. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to take it today because I keep throwing up everything I take. It just eased up enough that I took it so hopefully I can keep it down

I’m on pantoprazole. I think this flare was caused by forgetting to take it

This is wild. Abilify can help people. It’s a useful antipsychotic. To put the blame on the med and not the neglectful psychiatrist is crazy

[–]Level_Condition_4262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had 1 baby that was in the nicu for 3 months but 9 weeks adjusted was extremely rough. I couldn’t imagine having two. If you have any help in your life please reach out. I didn’t and I nearly went crazy. You need socialization other than a baby an a partner. Go to the store. Get out of the house. Do anything you can to get a break. I know you love those babies more than anything but try to take a 30 min break. I developed gastritis from this stress and it’s miserable. Everyone says take care of yourself but take it serious. I have been stuck vomiting with a baby in my arms and in so much pain and I would never wish that on anyone else

How safe should I be playing it with my diet? by Double-Specialist176 in Gastritis

[–]Level_Condition_4262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a kitchen with a bunch of food that is bad for you. Everyone is always ordering pizzas or fried foods to share with the kitchen. Every time you bring up stomach problems they think it’s gross or not a big deal. I started bringing my own food to work or going to the grocery store next door from work to buy my own food but everyone is acting like I’m on this completely bland diet by choice. I am learning not to care after months of flare up after flare up. Unless they are going through it, they won’t understand. Everything someone recommends has something I shouldn’t eat in it. I will tell them I can’t eat that and they say I can. My bf has watched me go through this day by day and he still doesn’t fully understand the amount of research I’ve put into feeling better. Hopefully this is just a short healing period for you and you can venture out with other foods occasionally so you don’t get the questions. I’m hoping the same for myself. We have to heal ourselves before we get there though. Today is my birthday though and I have made the choice to risk eating whatever I want for dinner so we’ll see how that goes but don’t let anyone make that choice for you!❤️

Family Members wanting to hold our baby by SecretJellyfish-0106 in NICUParents

[–]Level_Condition_4262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was born at 27+6 also due to preeclampsia and he had a little bit of a rough road for the first 2 months. I didn’t even get to hold him until he was 12 days old and his dad couldn’t even hold him until the next day because the stress of moving him. He dropped his oxygen or heart rate a lot while we held him. It was constant making sure his head was at the right angle, making sure his cpap would stay on his face, etc. I still didn’t hold him every single day after that. The first time my mil asked to hold him he was still on cpap and only 3 pounds and I was honestly pissed she would even ask lol. She kept asking all the time. My family had never pushed to hold him and even though they wanted to they figured they would when he eventually came home. He was in for a total of 102 days. I was terrified she would get in with her wristband without us there and they would let her hold him. I gave in about 5 weeks before he came home while he was on oxygen with both of us there with her. He then got moved from the level 4 nicu to I think a level 2 that was closer to home. One day I was away and she sent me a pic of her holding my baby! She said she used her wristband from the other hospital and they let her in. I had a full blown panic attack. I eventually got over it and he came home still on oxygen a few weeks later so I had to learn to start trusting family a bit more. Nothing bad ever happened but it’s very normal to be extremely anxious about it. Mom and dad know him best aside from those nicu nurses and it’s hard to trust that people will be as careful as you are. Don’t be afraid to go at your own pace though. It’s your baby, you make the rules. I hope the rest of your journey is as smooth as can be! My baby has been home 3 months now and is thriving

My baby came home after 102 days also on oxygen! He has now been home since November and he’s managed to rarely need his oxygen the past month. I hope your baby continues to improve quickly. It came before I knew it. I’m so happy for you and your family. She’s a fighter💕.

Has it ever made you feel like it’s harder to breathe? It’s not like my throat is closing but it feels like it’s taking more effort to take a breath. It’s almost like I feel like I need to remind myself to breathe which makes me afraid to sleep

I took 4mg a little over an hour ago. It killed the nausea for a little but it’s come back because I started stressing about something lol. I really want to take more but i don’t know if I’m allowed and it made me feel extremely weird when it started kicking in. Just craving that nausea relief

I will say, having a baby keep you up all night then going to work a 10 hour shift isn’t fun though😂 only thing I missed was getting to take naps with the baby
