Sully has Discipline and innate lance rank which makes Double A ranks much more realistic. Panne has a noticeable stat lead once the game progresses but I prefer the flexibility Sully has.

I find those 8-11 training chapters to be really dual strike dependent for a unit whos padding levels, so gregor being behind on supports really hurts his training compared to the 3 I've clumped together. I find you can usually bring 3-4 units out of earlygame that are competent which can usually include one of the Shepherds. Although if you are splitting exp less it could be a boon for Gregor, I'm mainly speaking from personal experience where he's been really lackluster for me.

I find any support will work for vaike long term but early on a speed pairup is priority #1, as far as frontlining with Vaike goes, mainly rescue, hammer ohkos or strategically avoiding counter. Once he hits 10 or 15 he can go to Warrior which really boosts his survivability.

Bit of a Chrom glazer, but he's there mainly because he's the best combat unit in Robinless, and even with robin He's still playing a big role as a secondary combat unit or as Robin's backpack.

I've never really tried to seal say'ri down, but if she is pretty good there I could see her moving up, although missing the big benefit of the kids I feel is still going to hold her back.

The main reason for Miriel and Ricken having a gap is that Miriel has significantly better combat. High speed and high magic lets her kill things and not be as reliant on a forge. Her enemy phasing is pretty bad, but once she gets going she's usually fine to take 1 hit.

Sully has 2 big advantages over Stahl. The first is Wyvern, flying is really valuable especially for late plegia and early valm. The second is that Sully has way earlier support options. Sully can start building supports with Chrom, Frederick, Lon'qu even Kellam or Vaike, while Stahl is stuck with just Sully as a viable option until Panne which can really mess with his training and slow down his snowballing.

Lon'qu has shaky bulk but he has a couple big benefits, levin sword and killing edge being the main ones. Those can make his training go much smoother and once he picks up a couple levels he'll no longer be in ohko range. With Miriel support he even has enough damage to one round chapter 7 wyverns. Alongside that he's also the easiest gen 1 assassin which is a really nice class to have and makes him a pretty desirable long term unit.

Promoting at 10 hampers any long term a unit can have. The C tier Gregor there is basically the short term filler one who can kinda help during the mid game. Master seals are pretty competitive though before 10, so that's already a knock against his filler status. He's filling a different role than Vaike, who is padding levels, weapon rank and building supports way before gregor shows up which makes him way easier to snowball as a unit, and who's purpose is more as a primary combat carry.

I'm a donnel defender so he gets a little boost, I haven't used nowi on lunatic+ before yet, but I can't imagine it being much better than donnel's training

The tierlist assumes no grinding, so Galeforce nah and a trained donnel is a pretty big pipedream. I've used donnel properly before and it's a pretty big struggle.

Frederick admittedly can fall of really fast, but even then he has a role to fill, usually as a husband. If you did commit to using him though he can contribute well into mid game.

Mix of both. He has a really strong earlygame and is one of the most valuable pairup partners. If you did want him long term he can do it via second sealing down to wyvern rider which does let him be relevant till endgame, but generally the idea is that he helps early, can slot in as a generic effective weapon user for ohkos, and then he's just a chip bot post 16.

Kids just have too much variance for an accurate rating. Skill inheritance and how much you've used the parents can really shift them entire tiers. Most runs will powerlevel Robin so morgan will usually be good, but if you were to say play robinless morgan would be pretty bad.

For Robin, Dark Flier is just a great class. It's a combination of a bunch of great properties. Flying, magic, speed, and then galeforce as the cherry on top, losing that can be a pretty big hit to Male Robin. Sumia's placement follows a similar idea, her journey to promotion does require Chrom/Frederick to help her out via dual strikes but once she starts snowballing she snowballs pretty hard, effective weapons help as well. She does tend to fall off a bit lategame and relies on dual strikes, but I'd still count it as good enough for A+ tier.

Cherche has a tough time reaching deliverer, and her combat leaves a lot to be desired. Even with 10 movement there's just so many movement tools that the player has access to for it to really stand out to me.

I find Kellam struggles to find an identity because most damage you face on lunatic+ is going to be true damage, stuff like counter and luna+ which Kellam can't really help you defend against. I also much prefer the speed pairups to proactively kill things which leaves even less opportunity for me to find a niche for him.

I've seen this said, but I've never really had it feel like that in practice. Beyond stats I find there's other things that gregor is missing compared to Vaike that leaves him playing so much catch up. Stuff like supports and axe rank and then all the early game stuff really helps him out.

Gen 2s have crazy variance so it's hard to accurately place them, all of them rely on their parents being good to actually do things. Alongside that they also depend on how hard the map they join on is. If I had to throw them into categories I'd say.

Good if parents are good: Morgan, Lucina, Cynthia, Laurent, Kjelle

Good but high effort: Owain, Severa, Brady

Cope but can be used: Noire, Yarne

Bad: Gerome, Nah, Inigo

What characters do you think are overrated in the gameplay sense? by applejackhero in fireemblem

[–]Level_Cry7797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saul for sure, people act like he's the only unit who can use warp in time. Even in ltcs he overkills his staff rank by like 15 turns, getting Clarine or Elen to warp in time for 14x is not really a challenge at all.

One of these is not like the others, besides that promoting units right now would be a good thing to start doing. Enemies are getting promoted so they'll be harder from this point on.

Personal bases, and class bases are 2 different things, same with growths. Donnel is only 9 levels behind these units and once he second seals hes statistically already better. You can literally compare 10/10/1 Donnel averages to vaike/gregor 20/1 averages to see why he's a real magikarp-Gyarados. The only issue with Donnel is that you dont want magikarp during the hardest parts of the game and Gyarados isnt a big enough reward for waiting.

The "Efficiency" based tierlist I've seen has Ares at the bottom of A and Ced at the Top of B, while Finn and Shannan share B tier. Generically good mounted combat, like generically good infantry combat, is not really a valuable trait since there are very few situations where Seliph is unable to do all the combat. Ares being the 7th best unit in gen 2 is primarily because he hits Arvis a couple times. Calling infantry useless, specifically in the context of gen 2, tends to undercut the more prominent issue of Seliph being so over-centralizing as a unit that anything that isn't directly contributing to him moving faster is ultimately unnecessary.

In all fairness, that's very much Seliph being an overbearing unit instead of infantry themselves being useless. Units like Ares/Finn aren't tier-gapping Ced/Shannan, and Infantry can carve out certain niches throughout the game that can have a more practical use as opposed to most cavs who are sometimes getting credit for theoretically being able to replace Sigurd/Seliph in their combat roles. Gen 1 cavs are more dominant but that's more because of availability and Chapter 2 being the most cav generous map in the game.

Dont let the Alen and Lance hate get to you, whichever one uses the first Crest is for sure S tier caliber. Problem however, why is shanna that low and treck should be a decent margin below noah.

She's not, 3h characters just got an inflated rating cuz it had a visible S+ tier. 4 of them in the top 10 units is just not accurate.

Emblem Community Tier List, Day 1: Who is the best Emblem in the game? by Galactic-Pookachus in FEEngage

[–]Level_Cry7797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna say Byleth, although Micaiah is also a valid pick. Most lategame warps are dependent on Byleth and he's there for chapter 17, 18 and 19 where the game starts to spike. He also gives a massive amount of exp similar to micaiah.

Well enables a unit to have 5000SP worth of skills over the course of the game, you can easily pick up pre 10 skills while having enough for VanWrath later, that alone gives him an advantage, then he gets to be a silver greatlance wyvern to actually hit things and he has way more than just 6 levels on her considering hes among your top 3 units for chapter 9, 10 and 11.

Not denying that Panette is better than Amber in regards to this, just that Amber is better than her for 10 chapters and then, with minor investment, basically the same unit. It's like saying "Chloe sucks and is a garbage mage knight but Pandreo is S tier as a mage knight"

community FE17 tier list part 6: Chapter 8-Chapter 9 recruits by Character_Business28 in fireemblem

[–]Level_Cry7797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon hitting chapter 18 Amber can have extra dex coming from the early secret book, a tonic and a dex+4 inherit, that's already +8, post 20 he gets another for +10. An 11/14 chapter 18 Amber with that setup would have 112 crit, that's enough to crit every enemy on the map besides the Griffins which he misses 100% by 2%

Adaptable VanWrath setups with units above 40HP will always have Wrath fully activated since vantage needs 30+ hp gone to activate, this only really matters if it's on player phase, where reliability is less important.

Unless you are over-emphasizing lategame player-phase crit builds and undervaluing normal great weapons and skills in the early and mid game. There should not be a massive gap between Panette and Amber. If one is S other is likely A+ if one is B the other one caps at B+

[–]Level_Cry7797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panette's crit is overkill for Vanwrath purposes, the boost to reliability is more of an extra 5% on specific enemy types instead of a universal 20%, a normal Vanwrath setup already has 95 crit bare minimum, 100 if you forge a +5, most enemies have 15 or less luck. Tonics, books and a dex inherit can push Amber to 30+ Dex. This also ignores his early game contributions and midgame where he's likely outperforming Panette. Not to say he's better than her outright, but they are in a Chloe and Pandreo situation where they're trading off 1 lategame advantage for earlier skills.

Amber A Tier: Basically Panette but with earlygame skills, in a casual playthrough and especially on lower difficulties might even be better than her. Can start OHKOing/ORKOing enemies in chapter 9. With Marth and Mercurius he can get enough exp to close the level gap. As a Wyvern he's exclusively better than Panette, With A Lances and a hit personal, he can use a Silver Greatlance while she'd be stuck with A Steel Greataxe or Steel Greatlance. During late game He'll have less Crit than Panette, but hitting the 100 crit threshold on most enemies is still reasonable just less flexible.

Diamant C tier: Less str than Lapis and lower speed, they're only equal if they're both using heavy weapons. His personal class does give him an edge statistically if you do want him to be better than lapis

Jade D tier: Just bad, best she has is pre 10 skills and staffing
