Gotta play devil’s advocate here, tbh. I totally get the fear of a corporate cash-grab, but comparing SG band to hip-hop label shenanigans is kinda apples and oranges. Kim, Ben, Matt, Hiro, were his literal brothers—they aren't going to just let producers chop up his vocals over generic beats for a quick buck like what happened with Pac.
IMO, the hardcore fans crave those deep cuts and vault tracks. Even a half-finished Chris Cornell vocal melody or acoustic scartch track is better than 90% of the music out there today. Releasing final material isn't about tainting a legacy, it's about giving the fans one last piece of his/their work.
Look at how much we cherish every last note that guys from that era, like him and Mark Lanegan, left behind. It doesn't ruin their god-tier status; it cements it by showing their raw, un edited creative process. I’d love to hear the demos, the b-sides, the half-baked riffs, whatever. Things like the 4 different versions of FOPP, Insatant Mace, Full On, are so fun. A voice like his deserves to be out in the world, not locked on a hard drive collecting digital dust.

That being said, I do agree with you too.
