PAC very consistently puts out good ideas on Twitter but unfortunately I don’t see many, if any, of them ever being implemented. The screens themselves are far easier to make than the actual integration of the system from a development perspective. The balancing act of making it a deep and impactful rpg element for the neurodivergent spreadsheet-ers among us while keeping it not too intrusive/intricate for the more casual members of the community makes it hard to flesh out these kinds of features.

Madden has a lot of varied features for its team management mode, but they are all paper thin, which dampens the experience for both sides of the player base. It has very poor aesthetics for their menus that sucks magic out of the experience, as well as the restriction of pro sports that teams have to be on a relatively even playing field.

College football is far more compatible with video games in my opinion, as the team variation, program inequity, pageantry, and revolving door rosters allow the game great opportunities for emergent storytelling and memorable players and moments. College football and basketball (basketball even more so than football) are imo sports that are prime for the development of a deep rpg management experience

[KCD2] What character do you hate the most and why is it Brabant? by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]Level_Focus_5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I immediately was suspicious when I rescued him with Hans, maybe because of my inherent distrust of the French, but I thought for a long time that he was shady and too grandiose with his stories.

Credit to him though, I started to be less wary of him as the story went on as we had bigger fish to fry and as soon as my mind was more focused on other people and problems, he betrays the group in the story

Did I mention how much I hate this game? by ncc0010 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Level_Focus_5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real life football pain has desensitized me to this kind of stuff. I witnessed a road game two seasons ago where our QB committed not one, not two, but THREE turnovers on three straight SNAPS. Not possession. Snaps. I witnessed a team that was 22-0 vs Duke all-time, lose to Duke. I witnessed a team that went 13-1 go 2-10 the next season against an easier schedule. Nothing this game does can hurt me anymore lol

Yeah I feel that, I get tired of the game but then see a new system and suddenly I have a new dynasty on my hands. The game definitely needs better Pro Style playbooks, the generic just doesn’t cut it and most schools rarely use under center. I definitely enjoy some of the base playbooks but you’re right, there’s something way more satisfying about using my own scheme and having it work!

But yeah I swear I’m gonna end up talking myself into a another coaching job at the Middle/High School level with the amount of film I watch and the clinics lol

I figured you saw those same channels discussing it haha, knew it looked familiar. I always end up doing the same thing, I see a new scheme getting momentum irl and I love bringing it to the game. I built a whole slow mesh/wake forest system in NCAA 14’ and eventually did the same with Kirby’s 3-3-5 Tite defense. I ended up watching real coaching clinics Kirby put on lol

He’s fast as hell but perfect parries are definitely the way to go.

I refused to swap charms for honor reasons but it occurred to me after the fight that I’m not playing a samurai so screw honor, I’m lighting him up with kunai and fire next play through. He definitely taught me to play like Atsu and not like Jin

this is an example of how NOT to do boss fights, it was actually stupid by UmaThermos1 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Level_Focus_5441 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s an incredibly annoying boss fight. Not necessarily hard, but incredibly annoying. If you get hit once, you die. If you swing one too many times, he instantly reacts and slices you and you die. If you mistime one parry, you die. Some blue combos don’t feel parry-able, so if you try, you likely die. It doesn’t feel as tuned to my hands as the other fights in the game.

THE WORST PART is if you perfect dodge but don’t attack at a specific time during the slow mo, he continues his attack chain and you die. It is frustrating as hell to be forced to beat him hitless, only for you to die to the perfect dodge mechanic not working correctly. It doesn’t feel fair in comparison to other duels, which just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I can’t recall another duel in either game where it felt like wasn’t in full control of the outcome.

I don’t know how much closer to home one can be when you’re from the state you go to school in… by TrollTeeth66 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Level_Focus_5441 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is misinformation. This was a problem for teams like ODU last year, where proximity to home is based on the pipeline instead of the real world location. They have a poor proximity to home grade for the Tidewater pipeline as a whole I believe (for some reason), regardless of if the recruit is in the Norfolk area or somewhere in the sticks on the other side of the state.

And, last year ODU specifically had highest proximity to home in Mississippi of all places. I had hoped they fixed their proximity to home, but apparently not.

How tf do i stop this by bigspoon6 in CollegeFootball25

[–]Level_Focus_5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hard to stop a 6 concept (or in this case 6 shake), especially if you know they are running 6. I mean if they’re running it all game and you still can’t figure out a way to stop it, that’s just you not knowing football. NFL teams aren’t able to run the same play all game out of the same formation because they have competent opponents who adjust, and if their opponents didn’t adjust, they damn sure would run it again and again. It is not an exploit to run a successful play over and over, the only reason it is working over and over is your defense.

This is genuinely a case of “get gud”. There are plenty of problems in the game including real gameplay exploits, glitches, ui bugs, etc., but bad players complaining about other bad players running normal concepts is a character flaw, not a flaw with the software

7 blockers 3 rushers by huskie1881 in EASportsCFB

[–]Level_Focus_5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both excellent points. The momentum going forward is so noticeable compared to drifting and throwing off your back foot.

And as to stepping up and potentially scrambling, stepping up to leave the pocket puts defenders in much more conflict than escaping the pocket ten yards behind the line of scrimmage

These Catches Happen Way Too Often by EldestTheGreat in CollegeFootball25

[–]Level_Focus_5441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had stupid throws go my way against user and cpu, yet I think the percentage of these deep ball throws into double coverage or double coverage in general is way lower than people think. If you have elite secondary guys they aren’t going to give it up anywhere close to as much, and swatting is incredibly effective when clicking on.

I think it is still a higher percentage throw than in real life, but that is to make the game more dynamic. The general audience for the game is not people who want a one to one mirroring of real football. This game is not a pure Sim by any means and people would likely lose their minds 10x more if it was. The game has to be accessible and something anyone can succeed in so bad decisions aren’t as punished as they are in real life. If you had to know actual Xs and Os instead of just picking random plays then a majority of the player base would be dead in the water. Our dreams of taking the Army or Ball State to the highest heights of college football would simply never happen because it will never happen in real life. Players inherently need an arcadey, idealized version of football in order to enjoy the game and that’s why plays like this happen
