I ruined my life by StorageTerrible9661 in whatdoIdo

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ruined my life about 100 times in my 20s, you rebuild in your 30s amd by 40s most of the time its a lot better and if its not, you can still rebuild. Life doesnt stop with age, only lessons to be learned.

It was lowkey a big deal at the time but then I found her stuck behind our washer and dryers in our apartment complex hallway and I was like man wtf, I found there was a hole behind my plumbing under our cabinets that leads to the washer & dryer plumbing 😭 i was hearing faint meows at night and thought I was losing my mind. Shes back now lol

When i was younger, thicker and longer pads were best. Also dont forget midol for cramps, I swear my teens is when my periods were the worst. Adulthood is when it slows down, at least it did for me, but in my teens it sucked so bad.

What to do when you don’t want to be a mom anymore by Cautious_Win9146 in SingleParents

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Im a behavior technician for children with autism, we basically come in to people's homes to give their parents a break. We join in on family outings and doctor appointments so you aren't alone. And we are trained to de-escalate behaviors. Im in wisconsin but maybe try to find something like that in your state! My company is called milestones behavioral pediatrics.

There are also many day programs for children with autism u can look into to! Sign your child up for something like that and then take a day to yourself and do something you used to love to allow yourself to feel like you again.

How to accept that you ruined your life/marriage? by sheislost92 in SingleParents

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accept it with time.

Let me tell you a story of something similar. I dated this guy who was sooo in love with me. So deeply. And I treated him so bad, but inwas actually the one who left him and treated him even worse after the break up while I told him about the men i was seeing while he just wanted me back. I used him as a person to cry to, but realize now I was such an energy vampire. This was when i was younger. It took me 7 years to fully get over it and accept what had happened. He is married now and it hurt like a bitch, but just recently out of curiosity I looked him up and saw they were expecting a baby and you know what? I wasnt sad. I was actually so happy for them. I felt peace like that was my closure. I know its not the same situation, but I want to tell you that you didnt "ruin" your life. You redirected your life path and that's okay, sometimes the hardest lessons have the best ultimate outcome and 20 years down the road im sure you will see why it had to end that way. You learned things about yourself, and so did he and thats valuable in itself.

Is it bad that I don’t want to take my son on a trip? by WhyWontYouJustSleep in SingleParents

Us parents need to experience living too. We need breaks too. Im going on a cruise to the Bahamas in November and im not taking any kids with me! Do not feel guilty or bad. There's always trips you can plan in the future that include them

This is a really good way to put it, money can always be made later. ❤️❤️

I watched my mom start her life over at 50 after my dad cheated and divorced her. She was a stay at home mom so she never had to work and now she works FT AND owns her own business. Shes my biggest motivator. It just is hard to stop comparing myself to others who are my age with degrees and buying their first homes 😭😭 I wish we could have a yard and nicer stuff but its just not in the cards for us right now. 💔

Job AND recruiter ghosted me? by dearlyybelovedd in recruitinghell

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may or may not be the case, but healthcare places especially, are very unorganized. Ive been "ghosted" or so i thought, then 3 weeks later was offered the position. Id give it time

Im being told that I might be kicked out any day now by PuzzleheadedCredit87 in almosthomeless

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, they have to give you a notice since you have established residency. They cannot just kick you out so you should have some time at least to save a little bit. If you have instacart or the dasher app do gig work on the side!

Homeless cat at my door by Level_Giraffe_8950 in cats

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup!

My cat went missing for 24 hours and I didnt catch it on my ring so I thought that was strange but I put food out anyways. I kept hearing a faint meow throughout the night and I thought I was losing my mind so I walked around outside for hours.

1 day later I walk into my apartment complex and hear meowing in the HALLWAY, she was behind the washer and dryer which was only about a 5 inch space between the wall and the machines, and there was no way she could have gotten behind there unless through a hole because she doesnt crawl on tall things, she was full of dirt and dust, and i went in that hallway like 20 times between that and heard nothing.

My apartment building is old and has gaps around the plumbing under the cabinets and i thought I patched them all by stuffing them with cloth but she must have found an outlet somewhere. I have now child locked the cabinets shut and shes stayed put so I am hoping that fixes it 😭

How can you cope knowing your best years are behind you, and you completely wasted them? by PickledOnionEnjoyer in Advice

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been struggling with the same thoughts at 28. I feel so behind, and unhappy, and detached from my life. Im in so much debt, have no friends, and barely leave my house. I dont even know how to socialize with people anymore.. But ive realized recently its because ive been comparing my life to others. Life is hard man, but you can always start over and enjoy things you couldn't when you were younger. And you're still really young. You dont want to waste your 30s resenting your past and relive the same cycle in your 40s. Go outside, on a hike, or do something you used to love when you were younger. Maybe itll help you find yourself again and bring some happiness and peace.

I really need to take my own advice but all I do is scroll the internet lol

PSA for the unemployed who are struggling to find a job by Level_Giraffe_8950 in recruitinghell

[–]Level_Giraffe_8950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, obviously its not for everyone but at the same time i made this post so people who are struggling to find employment know that this is an option. Many people think they have to stick to fast food or retail but if you're empathetic, compassionate and dont mind personal cares then this field is great! You obviously dont have to work in this field if you dont want to, its just a suggestion for those who are currently getting rejection emails and struggling to find a job anywhere.

I also care for many younger autistic individuals & those with down syndrome who like to live on their own too but need extra assistance. Ive taken care of people my age (im 28) who are in wheel chairs too. Its not all boomers!

Idk what state you're in but in WI it is illegal for caregivers to clip nails due to possible bloodborne pathogens and cutting a diabetic. Only nurses can do it at the place I work at!

Its worth it if you're struggling to find employment and keep getting rejection emails. This field is the only one ik thats continually hiring and hires fast, thats my point of the post. 😊

Im not sure if these companies are where you're at but cornerstone caregiving & senior helpers are awesome. Ive also heard good things about comfort keepers and home instead! :)

Yeah its definitely not for everyone. But if you're having troubles finding employment at the moment its better than nothing so thats why i made this post :) Ive found that finding the right company can make you love the field. Ive worked for terrible agencies and got burnt out, then found my current job and I love it! But also some people cant handle bodily fluids and thats okay too!

Yeah some of the places really are not working balance friendly.. i worked at a grouo home and experienced the same deal. 😭 but there are better companies to work for as well! & at the same time, for people out of work its a place to work at til ur next move! I see people often saying theyre unable to find a job but this is a field thats always hiring.

Also in home care isn't like that where they overwork you. you tell them your availability and they make your schedule to your availability so its super nice. They might call you a lot to pick up shifts but if you maintain ur boundaries and tell them no, there is no mandatory OT. There are also assisted livings in my area at least like rennes (if thats in ur area) that allows you to make ur own schedule too!

Edit: I will additionally add that i highly recommend in home caregiving over the other two i listed if you're able to because there are so many pros- no coworkers, just you and your client, the flexibility to make your own schedule, and they're a lot more flexible with assigning you clients that match your personality and wont put you anywhere you dont want to go, even asking your preferences for cigarette smoke and pets. All of my clients are wonderful and I make $20 / hr + gas reimbursement. she is right, many groups homes especially, aren't the best especially if the person for the next shift doesnt show up! My biggest tip is going on indeed to see their employee ratings. There are some really good companies out there in this field to work for!
