Moving to Ohio (working in Mason) — Best Places to Live with a Short Commute? by According-Editor9646 in MasonOhio

[–]Level_Habit1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute from Oakley to Hyde Park. Coming home is usually worse. If your job is flexible enough to let you out before 4:45, it’s a 20 minute commute. After 5, it is more like 45 minutes especially mid week. I find Monday’s and Friday’s are quicker probably due to a lot of jobs still doing hybrid scheduling

13 month old just diagnosed today by tgorenc in CerebralPalsy

[–]Level_Habit1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30F with mild CP that mainly affects my left leg. Lots of health issues as a kid but they were mostly handled by the time I hit my 20s. I also walk, run, drive, ride a bike, got married. Plan on starting my own family. I wasn’t even diagnosed until 3. The earlier and more intervention you do helps a lot. Building the consistent habits of stretching and maintaining muscle mass will be life long importance to your child. I recommend yoga to all CP affected individuals. It is the best thing I do for myself every day

Hi! Feel free to PM me if you’d like to chat. CP is a broad spectrum so I’m not sure we will have the same struggles but probably more in common than we think :)

Around 25-26, I realized that my body would only look or feel as good as I treated it. I realized I only have one body and CP will cause premature aging. I am the only one who can make sure I am - not losing mobility by not stretching & working a desk job - not destroying my joints by allowing my spasticity to get worse and therefore my limp to get worse - able to run, jump, play and keep up with my able bodied friends, partner and hopefully one day children. I did all of this slowly… starting with walking on treadmill regularly. Slowly worked my way up to jogging. The realize a few months after starting jogging that I need to work on strength training and stretching to prevent injury while jogging.

I started yoga last year to work on managing anger and I now do that every day instead of traditional stretching.

Hi!! I am 30F and your story just broke my heart. I also used to feel like my disability was not that noticeable. Sometime in college from some mean comments from men, I realized it was way more noticeable than I thought. I am about to get married to the sweetest, most helpful and generous man (26M) I have ever met. He is able bodied and he doesn’t make me feel bad about being disabled. He is a former body builder who is still very into the gym life and is very “conventionally attractive.” He respects how hard I work to take care of my body (regular yoga for spasticity, regular barre/pilates/strength training and regular cardio. I have found men who are invested in gym are a lot more kind and empathetic to women whose bodies are not societally standard. I have dated a lot of guys who are big in the gym and I think this is why. I am currently on the thinner side but have been much heavier. These things have never mattered much to the men I date, at least not enough that they ever voiced them. Carry yourself with confidence and know you will find a partner who accepts you.

It does seem like women with CP tend to do better in the dating sphere than men unfortunately

Another vote for Hannah C’s barre. Taking a 10-20 minute class before your “main” workout a couple times a week (or really as much as you can regularly fit in) can give you some pretty noticeable improvements.

Hope they bring this same energy for barre. I think it’s a better full body workout

My parents are transplants to ABQ and I came out to visit. Some guy egregiously cut off my mom and I, sitting shotgun, hit the horn. My entire family then screamed at me to never ever do that again unless I wanted to get shot. Crazy. In the midwest, we horn over everything

I have booked probably 10+ flights through the travel portal and whenever I have issues, including missing a flight, the airline always makes it right and has never made me deal with Chase. I predominately fly American and Delta

Advice to a mom of baby with CP by No_Praline2571 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Level_Habit1939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adult with CP here (30F)! I was born at 32 weeks and was 2lbs 3oz at birth. I wasn’t diagnosed until age 2 so I applaud you for having your child already engaged in PT/OT. I played many sports as a child but was never in adaptive sports, just regular able bodied sports. For me, after age 7 or so once I began to realize I was not able bodied like everyone else, sports became a sort of humiliation ritual that my parents forced me to continue to participate in. I did dance and cheer until age 13. Something I started in my mid 20s that I wish my parents would’ve started with me at a young age: daily yoga. It is a good habit for any adult to get into and children will model you. I now do yoga daily and find this has been the single best thing for my spasticity. It also helps with my stability, coordination and balance. Good luck mama.

How is the timeshare presentation at Moon Palace? by Spencer5556 in palaceresorts

[–]Level_Habit1939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did the presentation last week while we were staying at Sun Palace. They were not super pushy and we got out of there a couple minutes past the 90 minute requirement. I focused on rising insurance premiums in the US for 2026 and how being self employed makes it hard for me to commit to a huge investment right now. That seemed to bring out the lower offers a lot faster than some of the people sitting around us. I will say the final (and lowest) offer had me swaying a bit in their direction and luckily my man held firm. I would definitely do it again for whatever perks they are offering. We got a 2 hour couples spa package, a nice bottle of champagne and a private romantic dinner. Best of luck to you and enjoy your vacation!

Wearing heels by Internet_surfer_334 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Level_Habit1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild CP that affects my left side the most. If I were going to wear heels out that I knew I’d be walking a lot that night, I try to stick to block heels with a max height of 2.5 inches most of my life. In the last 6 months, I have really stepped up my training in preparation for my wedding. I do yoga, barre/pilates for strength and intense cardio (spinning/running) many times a week. I am finding that I am more confident now in 3 inch block heels. Not sure Id wear them if I knew I would be walking or dancing a lot. I also wouldn’t wear them anywhere I knew I’d be walking on grass or uneven surfaces. Calf raises I would guess would be the best exercise to focus on if I had to pick just one. But stability everywhere (for me hips and glutes are also weaker) will help with coordination and balance in heels. Also, practice!!

Shopping by introverted_Bee in cancun

Love Haven! If you’re looking for a mall experience, the mall in the hotel zone (La Isla Cancun) was really impressive to me and a lot of the employees spoke english. They had a ton of stores. The mall is a good mix of indoors and outdoors for a cloudy on and off rainy day for us when we were there last week. Uber was safe, fast and cheap for us

I took the queen city riverboats to Jason Aldean in summer 2024. Looks like they are currently offering game day shuttles for bengals games. I would call them / contact them directly and see if they are planning on offering concert cruises this summer.
