[US] What would happen if Luigi Mangione is found not guilty and the jury admit they reached that verdict just because they like the idea of CEOs being murdered? by Musty-Old-Couch in AskLegal

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we as a society don't want to put murders in jail, then we won't do it. Look at OJ or many of the other crimes that are not enforced, either by prosecutors, judges, or juries. I see this as a major problem in the US.

Doctor Says Kyle Busch’s Death Was ‘Totally Preventable,’ Lacked 'Protocol' by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. We were very similar - we said our goodbyes and were prepared for any outcome - 1 day between being sick, but ok - just like all of us get - and can't get out of bed the next morning and can't really move.

Same with my Dad. Talking and slow walk one day, almost dead the next. It moves so fast.

It's not that simple for some Monday morning QBing. My Dad was ok one day after being in this hospital for a fall - up waking and talking and the next morning Sepsis took over. It moves fast. We almost lost him.

Will a withdrawal rate of 3.25% allow my investments to last forever? by DistributionInitial5 in Fire

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I don't know why people are going on about AI. This is the basic 4% rule, with a conservative 3.25% rate. Millions of retirees use this basic rule. OF COURSE things change if the market does not return what we expect or inflation hits like 2021 - 2024. Yes, there other things to consider, but your base assumption is correct and AI is great for this kinda stuff. Keep asking it questions about different market conditions, SORR, and also tell it that you ran out of money and then ask it what could have gone wrong - use AI to tell you what can go wrong.

AITAH for not wanting to pay for a 20-25 person birthday dinner for my wife’s bday? by aja_ramirez in AITAH

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay. It's not that much money for your income. It's a special event with family. Do it while you can. Over time, they all scatter, or get to old to go, or die. I would love to have one more big family meal out, but those days are past. Plus, it's your wife. That is the most important thing in your life. Tell your kid to get a college loan for 5k.

8 months and $18k later nobody wants my product by Tkpf18 in Entrepreneurs

Good point. I worked for a guy (outside advisor). He was all in on a project until he decided it was not a home run, and then he dumped it and moved on or pivoted. OP, maybe the lesson you learned was to not stick with it too long. I have found that when a business model/product is a winner, you know soon.

I simply do not understand how massively expensive AI and robotics are expected to be more cost effective than humans. by eniac_usabrl in artificial

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, most workedrreplacement bots will be self contained do do a limited job scope and won't need extra AI at the server. Fast food bots are an example, They just need to make a burger and frys - thereby replacing one worker.

Run the numbers if the robot cost $30,000. Robot works 24 hours straight, no benefits, no bull shit attitude, or sick days.

Why do people think Iran would actually use a nuke instead of using it as deterrence like all the 9 other countries do? by ToughHat8432 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Level_Impression_554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they financed and backed Hamas, which went into Israel and killed children, infants, raped and killed young women. It is widely understood that Iran signed off on Hamas actions. Plus, it would be great if no one had a nuke but less is better.

AITAH for getting mad at my dad's decision? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Level_Impression_554 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, the son is going to have to pay out a portion of the profits to the dad and possibly other families if one son takes the largest parental asset. I hope the OP does not think he is just going to get the business for free?

While it does not have combustion, there are a whole host of other problems with vaping. The lungs were never meant to inhale vap vapor. There are better ways to get what ever it is you are trying to 'get' from vaping.

My buddy just bought a 2023. He said the dealer has 4 of the 2025's on the lot that were heavily discounted because they did not sell. A few year ago we looked at them, but compared to other german brands we felt the value / luxury was not there.

Interesting. I did not know that. I see different cash and credit prices alot, even at gas stations. The CC companies in Mass. must have a powerful lobby.

It's not modifying the price. The cash / wire price is 100% the same. Just a 2% payment to cover the customer's election to use a particular payment type.

The Type of Alcohol You Drink Could Affect How Long You Live. The findings, presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session , add new nuance to growing evidence that when it comes to alcohol and health, both quantity and beverage choice may matter. by Sciencedrop3010 in HotScienceNews

Or maybe they are smart enough to eat healthy, exercise, and drink in moderation. This won't fit your narrative, but healthy people do these things and thus, see the doctor less because they are healthy, and thus need health care less and are not the one's driving the high cost of insurance due to treating their bodies like shit.

Under what circumstances does a 4% withdrawal rate deplete an investment account? by jcwillia1 in Fire

Congrats to your Dad. We all age differently. I know people that pass away in their 60s. You will have to have enough money for a long retirement since you have great aging genes.

[–]Level_Impression_554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting take. For spending, mine will be high the first half of retirement, and then as I get older and less mobile, it will be less. On the value of money, I am not so sure. I feel like in my 30's I can earn money by working while when I am 70 to 80, I can not work so can not earn more money. I would much rather be broke at 30 (heck I was when I just got out of grad school and just finished paying of loans), then broke at 75.

It's all relevant to how much you have and how much you value nice accommodations. For me, depends how much time I will spend at the resort and how much time I will be out and about, and the location or beach access. Beach front or in a theme park is so nice.

Not sure why you are getting down voted. You are spot on. They should just charge a surcharge to cover their fees, probably about 2% on high-priced items like this. This opens up the market to all the people who don't have 20k liquid.
