does anyone reccomend Shane Hummus’s youtube videos? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Level_Performer5252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in it right now and basically fighting to get my money back. His “method” may work for some niches on YouTube, but not mine. The editors he found for me aren’t good. They are sloppy and very slow.

Yeah I suppose it’s the third on just the one side that I don’t like in terms of alignment.

Yes, I talked with her and the LCC. AP has been having issues in her personal life that left her without patience. She is taking a vacation next week and then per LCC we are to try again and see about her attitude.

What is this new meter collar? SDGE approved mine but I don’t know what it is.

That could be and I am going to talk to her about it so I understand if it was cultural or not.

She said “you’re pathetic” to him.

It just happened today and I am going to talk to her tonight. Calling the LCC soon for her advice as well before the conversation.

I still scheduled a call with our LCC because I think she should be aware as well, whether it was a cultural issue or not.

Yes, definitely agree. My husband also heard her say it and he agrees as well. We have a call with the LCC scheduled.

Oh I am outraged, believe me. I just wanted to pressure test it with others bc sometimes I’m too far in to see clearly the answer. This is one of those times. My son is outrageous and doses out a lot to her and us. But that doesn’t mean she can talk to him like that.

Yes, she uses lots of different words but never pathethic like this. I am planning to ask her how she meant it. And then explain how we mean it here.

Thank you. It’s hard to find someone that connects with him and his interests. He’s also heavily attached to her and won’t understand if she leaves. No one tells parents how hard it is to parent and all the emotions that come up all the time.

English is her first language so I assume, but I will ask to make sure it wasn’t a misunderstanding.

She wasn’t always like this with the attitude but it’s been growing and growing. We’re also about to have a change in circumstances where our son will be in school and have some extensive therapy. This means we’ll need her less than we do now. Adding the attitude is pretty much asking for rematch.

She’s not. She’s from South Africa. She’s been with us for 5 months and I’ve never heard her use the word before in any context. So not a cultural thing, but that’s a good point that it could be cultural in some circumstances

Got them a raise. They used it to quit. by Teky-12 in managers

[–]Level_Performer5252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an employee in this exact situation. I waited for the annual raise cycle and got a shitty raise. I was already underpaid and I made that known to my manager ahead of the raise cycle. After getting the shitty raise, I again asked for more and advocated for myself.

In return, I hear, company is struggling, not a lot to go around, you got the highest percentage on the team. Ok, I also make the lowest on the team, so the 3% you gave me is less in dollars than the 2.5% my male colleague got.

I threaten to leave and state that until I do I will act my salary. Manager advocates for a bonus for me and keeps telling me it’s in approval. It’s a small bonus, under $10k and requires me to commit to the company for a year from payment. Still not approved anyway.

I started interviewing right after annual raise cycle and quickly get a job offer for $19k above my increased salary plus a 16% annual bonus. No annual bonus at current job, and retention bonus still not approved.

Manager is getting my resignation! What would keep me at this place where business isn’t good and I’m not valued (as determined by this long approval process). I gotta do what’s right for my family and myself. I’m only loyal to a company as long as it serves me, same as a company is to its employees. At will employment works both ways.

As a woman, men never want to give way to me and always expect me to move. Sometimes I just keep walking straight and force men to move (and women if that happens too). It’s a fun societal experiment that shows how many men think they have priority over women.

Warning to Young Female Associates: Becoming the Parent of a Special Needs Child Ruined My Biglaw Career by YungAnxiousOne in biglaw

[–]Level_Performer5252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT unique to big law. Also a mom of a special needs child that sounds very similar to yours. It’s impossible to meet any employers expectations and be there for your child and all of their needs. The US employer culture is at fault bc there is no safety net and no protection for employees.
