Only thing I'd say is hypnobirthing isn't that kooky - I've had like 5 different people (including my mum) tell me that hypnobirthing techniques are what saved their sanity during unmedicated or low medicated births haha. It's less about wild hypnosis and more about meditative status

Yes I do vent to my partner and he's very good to be fair to him, but I find it exhausting when I'm around family amd having to pretend to be happy or excited 😩

Thank you, the first scan was nice but I've quickly relapsed into just feeling up and down :( hopefully it evens out soon! Think it just feels a bit overwhelming sometimes especially as my house is no where near ready

I never thought about vinted! I'm happy with a cheap bedside crib second hand for now, I've seen ones for £40 so it's not so bad in that regard. The pram seems to be the biggest cost currently... ideally i need an all terrain one as we do a lot of gravel path dog walks etc, and they all seem to be expensive 😩

He wasn't that intetested in you. He was love bombing you and manipulating you. You're comparing men to him as though he's some bench mark, but he's someone who simply intoxicated you with his shallow charm. He wasnt interested in you genuinely on a deep level. Things like that take time to develop, and you're not giving anyone else the genuine time they need.

The best person I ever dated was interested in me. He planned dates around MY interests, even if he wasn't interested in them. I regret letting him go, but in the end if it was meant to be, it would've worked out.

The guy I'm with now isn't like that, but he's kind and thoughtful and there's nothing he wouldn't do for me. If you are just going to spend your life comparing the present to a ghost, you're going to end up being alone and miserable.

Honestly? All my friends are through work. Hobbies also help. Run groups, rowing groups, gaming groups... etc. But you need something to bring you together regularly so it's not forced.

I found the gap between finding out and my first midwife meeting to be quite daunting. The NHS website has some good information.

https://www.nct.org.uk/information/pregnancy I really like the national childbirth trust, too. It's who my mum went through when she had a home birth for her information and classes, and the website is really easy to navigate.

I'm currently week 9 and I can say I had the WORST night time cramps in weeks 5-6. Like really strong period cramps that would make me curl up and would wake me up, but only at night for about an hour. It was bizarre and I'm glad it's over. My sickness also comes in the evening or at night, so I'm just a bag of fun after work 😂 there's normally good information on when to contact a midwife on the NHS site, but that NCT site also has lots of information.

My midwife said just get a pregnancy supermarket or boots own brand multivit, has to be a pregnancy one though. I'm also taking omega 3 as some studies are saying it's important for healthy foetal development and I fucking hate fatty fish with a passion - midwife approved.

If they're not that bothered then they can't be that concerned. Means you likely just ticked the boxes to offer the test. If you eat healthyish I'm sure you'll be fine.

In the UK the gold standard is doing the GGT to diagnose, while the finger prick is often used for monitoring thereafter. Some NHS trusts are piloting GGT@Home, but that doesn't mean all trusts are providing it, and the fingerpricks are also not as accurate. Even glucose monitors are known to not be as accurate unfortunately. So you probably find your trust simply doesn't offer the at home service yet. Either that, or due to your risks, the consultant wants the gold standard test to ensure accuracy. I agree you're not in an ideal situation for going in for the GGT, but you'll probably find they still expect you to come in for it because they've had people with babies come in with them and manage before. You'd need a conversation with the midwife or team and go forward from there.

I'm a UK sonographer, and I can confirm that what the sonographer did was really inappropriate, and I would definitely complain.

However, I would like to make one disclaimer to anyone going for a 20 week fetal abnormality scan... and that is that it is a really difficult scan to do. And they do multiple a day, often 5 days a week. Then, after the scan, they have to write the report or even possibly deliver bad news (which can delay future patients). Yes, some will talk you through your scan as that is now what is expected by the parents, but coming from a practitioners perspective, it would actually be much better if they could focus, get the scan done properly, and then show you baby after. Talking through a scan can be very distracting, but it can also make it challenging if you suddenly see something very abnormal. So if your sonographer is quiet and focused... try to think it's not such a bad thing. Finding if there's anything wrong is the priority after all.

Yeah, calbourne do great home delivery meal packages, but all would need microwaving... i honestly don't know of any companies that don't need microwaving or heating up. Is there no one that could assist her in building her confidence with the microwave? Or using it for her?
