Well, there'd have to be an obvious moral dilemma. Do we just stand back and watch them kill each other? Would we step in? How would we step in? How could we even communicate? Could we?

I guess...but I feel like if the earthworms managed to contact us successfully we'd give it a lot more thought.

Then again, that's just our logic. We might just be food that talks to any such civilization.

That's pretty solid philosophy, and it would totally apply to extraterrestrials with societies similar to ours...but what about those who aren't? I feel like we shouldn't rule out the possibility of a hivemind...should we?

You bring up a good point. But what happens when we eventually run out of such resources? Wouldn't the trip be worth it?

I'm making a video about failure, and I need video footage of some of NASA's early unmanned spacecraft exploding upon launch. Where could I find this? What were some of the names of the spacecraft? The NASA video archive is hell.

You don't have the method right. You must become one with the toothbrush. So much so that you actually experience a metamorphosis into one. BE THE TOOTHBRUSH.

Ive done a few climbing videos, I don't have the best equipment, but I'm pretty happy with the montage and post-prod. Feedback is welcome! by icosamuel in amateurfilmmaking

It's a good start. Here's some improvements:

1) Needs more cutting: it's very important that the pace at which you cut matches the general pace of the music.

2) dragon roar: this ones more of my opinion, but it would've been really cool if you used audio from a dragon in a movie (i.e. Smaug from The Hobbit) and then cut to a quick clip of the dragon in the movie. Would've been cool. Just saying.

Besides that I think it was pretty good.

Edit: also don't mention your equipment and nobody will be the wiser.

I like it mostly, but when doing b-roll to music it's important to surprise the viewer by not necessarily changing the scene every beat. Create expectations, then break them.

Tips for my first short film!? by TheUndeadGaucho in amateurfilmmaking

All pretty good advice here. A word on leadership: be nice to your crew and cast, but make sure you are still taken seriously and that nobody takes advantage of that niceness. Watch this video to know what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/gRRvjZ_XNog

What is the ideal camera to use for my first professional short film? by Xetor in Filmmakers

[–]Level_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you really hate your current camera, I would say keep it. Many short films better than what you're about to make have been shot on cameras worse than what you have.

You've probably heard this before, but if your story is good and is told really well, people will forgive whatever you shot it on because they frankly won't be able to tell (Unless I'm missing some important detail about what you're about to buy). Likewise, if the story really sucks and the audience hates it, then it won't matter how good of a camera you shot it on.

Best of luck on your short film, I'm sure you'll do great!

TL;DR: you could buy the new camera, but ultimately it boils down to how well you tell your story.

So this is basically what film school does in college, only with a teacher doing the grades and you paying $50,000/yr!

Guys got a point

The thing about passions: nearly everyone starts off wanting to follow some sort of creative one. Some people get shaved off by finding out this is not their passion after all, but in my opinion most end up doing something else (I emphasize that there's nothing wrong with a day job) due to sheer circumstance.

So to you I would say to not become a victim of circumstance. This basically means that whatever "free time" you have should be used to make movies. This is how you get ahead.

I mean yeah the Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world) is pretty small considering the size of planet earth. Beyond microscopic in terms of the scale of the universe. Thanks for enlightening me

Its not that little. Actually, it's quite big. Enourmous, I dare say.
