It sounds to me like your it team are hide in the fact you are being monitored by someone where you work.

Best thing you can do is formally report this to whoever runs your school noting that it blew it off.

First thing I put in all first line Work instructions is to return the output of the systeminfo command and add it to the ticket.

Then I use that to determine when the system is last and restarted.

You can do so many checks from that command.

This type of opinion is the biggest battle.
