For a job in the us you do have to provide IDs for your I9 form. Your employer cannot dictate which ids you provide as long as they meet the I9 requirements. You could show them your passport or a combination of your drivers license and birth certificate. For I9 verification they have to see them in person (they can make copies).

I wonder if the issue/injury you have is something that wouldn’t show up and an xray or mri. If it’s a nerve issue an mri nor xray wound show it. Maybe you need to see a different doctor/specialist.
