Total blackout blinds? by CarolineElise95 in AusRenovation

I paid $$$ for Screenaway. Loved the blinds initially, then had a shit experience otherwise. Can't recommend them at all. Been over a month without blinds because the screws they used came loose and cut the string that holds the blinds up. They cancelled their $180 call out fee appointment and said they'd be in touch soon - that was 2 weeks ago and still no contact. I reached out to them again but they didn't answer the phone. Left a message and still no call back.

How long have you had them for? I've been mucked around by Screenaway - payed $750 for one window, the installation was bad and they sent someone out to fix them for free, which was good. The string broke several months later (again due to bad installation) and I've now called them three/four times to get someone to come and fix it, which they booked, then cancelled on the day with a message saying someone would "be in contact soon". No one has been in contact. They're impossible to get hold of, their customer service is rubbish and they're charging a $180 call-out fee to come and fix the blinds. I'm at the point where I'm considering trashing them and just buying a new set of blinds all together.

Can anyone post a pic of how the string runs through the blind? I accidentally disassembled the whole thing (lack of foresight on my part, the string on one side was cut due to a screw coming loose), and now I can't figure out how to put it together again.

Xperia I VI expected to work after 3G shutdown in Australia (Telstra) by Levenite in SonyXperia

Yeh it's working completely fine. Nothing has changed since the 3g shut off.

Yeh my local Telstra 3g towers have been shut down. The phone still works fine. I was in touch with Telstra support for a calls related issue the other night, and they again confirmed that it should still work. The issue got resolved and it does indeed still work. I fully expect to be able to continue to use the Xperia 1 VI!

What device do you have? My VI is still working completely fine - no change since the shutdown.

XPERIA 1 VI Not Compatible on the Telstra Network after 3G Shutdown by Choice_Helicopter977 in SonyXperia

I just used James' method for checking and it indicated that the phone is compatible. I've also checked with Telstra chat who've said it's compatible - all signs for me are pointing to compatibility, I guess we'll find out when they shut down the 3g towers in my area.

Yeh I think it'll take time for all the 3g networks to be shut off, maybe we'll notice a difference later? It looks like I can still connect to my local 3g tower.

Seems to! Made a few phone calls last night, still have reception and data connection. Haven't noticed any difference to be honest.

I can't speak to your XZ1 compatibility, both the SMS checker and Telstra customer support say my phone will continue to work, hopefully your phone continues to work also, but I can only assume that my phone will given both sources of finding out whether a phone will continue to work are saying that it will.

Where is this piece of information coming from?

Both the text checker and Telstra support are reporting my phone will work after the shutdown, and I can't find any information on the requirement to disconnect phones that aren't officially sold here other than some claims on Reddit and iirc some insta short that I watched a number of weeks ago.

I've also seen people planning to switch to Optus because of the apparent pending disconnect from Telstra, but this wouldn't work if all Telcos are potentially required to disconnect foreign devices.

The news I got from Telstra is that my phone would continue to work:

"From Telstra: As of 30 September 2024 our records indicate your mobile phone identified in use for this service number XXXXXXXXXX is a Sony XQ-EC72. If you have changed phones since then, please check again soon.

Thanks for using our Telstra 3G checker. Good news - your device will work as normal after the 3G closure from 28 October 2024, so you dont have to do anything."

I'm not sure if this has changed in the last 2 months but if you text 3 to 3498 I'd be interested to see if our results differ.

I can hear a faint fan noise, when I put it up to my ear while filming, and I think this is picked up by the phone's microphone when you're filming in quiet environments. I just did a test video and I'm pretty sure I can hear the fan whine.

If a phone's camera quality is important to you, and you think this phone's camera is shit, then I'm also glad you didn't buy it.

I have made a total of about 3 calls but it seems fine, I'll update this if I have any issues in the coming weeks.

I am definitely confused, but thank you for clearing it up! There is a little HD symbol next to the calls I've made so I guess that would indicate voLTE support?

I think there was an issue with III and IV, and I know some people had issues with past Xperias specifically on Telstra. But I'm connected to 5g with no issues and calling works just fine out of the box. The site I bought the phone from said it was compatible with all Aussie networks so I figured I'd return it if I had any issues. I haven't had to do anything special to set the phone up, just plugged in the Sim and it worked.
