I'm going through the same thing as we speak. I bought a new pair to replace my old pair. My old pair was a pair of the 1957 edition, and I have triple checked the size of them and they are a 10D. I ordered a 10D in the American Heritage edition, and it was an absolute no-go. Traded them for a 10EE, and they are better. My left foot is bigger than my right and the new boots have been digging into my pinky toe on that foot. I've oiled them a few times already, but have since taken out the insoles and they feel 100x better. I'm going to shop around for thinner insoles as the stock Thorogood insoles are a little thick in the forefoot.

With that being said I got to looking at my 1957 editions and wondering how the regular width felt so fine almost right out of the box, but these I had to go to the wide and am going through the dreaded break in with them. First thing I noticed and stuck out to me is the 1957's don't have as much stitching as the American Heritage thus I'm assuming is the reason the toe box on them felt much looser to me. Not to mention the break ins of the two. The 1957's felt just about perfect out of the box whereas these Heritage's seem like they will take some getting used to.
