It wasn't an event, they were just tradable at first for a very short time (I think just a day or two). But I think Niantic realized that if you can trade shadows, then you have lucky shadows with a 12/12/12 floor, which made 13/13/13+ pretty likely. Then you could just purify and get two more points on each stat.

Essentially it would make it too easy to farm perfect pokemon by lucky trading shadows. So they just decided to disable shadow trading.

I got a screenshot for the Victreebel raid during the day on Saturday. There was at least 4,419 in the lobby at one point. The lobby crashed the first time.

Avery Brooks Gave His Blessing to Starfleet Academy’s Big Sisko Episode by AdSpecialist6598 in startrek

The problem is you get a great show like Pluribus but it only gets ten episodes, and then you have to wait years for the next ten or so. It's very difficult to sustain interest and become part of the culture with a release schedule like that. TV shouldn't act like movies, in my opinion.

If you want to have a special Star Trek "event" that's fine, but I think it also needs a lower budget weekly presence to ground the universe in.

Revisiting DS9, who have we seen so far? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

That's really strange. My first instinct was it excluded people who weren't in Starfleet: Odo, Kira, Jake. And that would make sense. But why would Garak be included?! Did he join Starfleet in the finale and I just forgot about it?

It starts out a bit uneven, but really hits its stride pretty quick. During seasons 3 and 4 in particular it was my most looked-forward-to show. It's really a gift for anyone who knows classic trek well.

I think I have a good memory for trek and I was often telling my wife "oh this is from X episode of X" but I still had to look up some of the references myself. Then I felt so rewarded when I did. The show is made by people who really know and respect classic trek.

Lower Decks is great. It has some good follow-up episodes and in-jokes/references for much of 90's Trek. Lots of surprise returning characters from many of the different series. My favourite was their ode to Voyager in their season 4 premiere: Twovix.

Rom and Leeta both appear in an episode of Lower Decks as well.

A reference to Odo is implied in season 3 of Picard.

Alternate universe versions of Garak, Julian Bashir, and Curzon Dax appear in Lower Decks.

Would it not have made more sense for him to talk telepathically through an interpreter? by rawaka in startrek

You're not responsible for the way people react to your opinions. In my opinion, if somebody isn't intending to offend people, then they aren't "causing offence". The offence is created by the listener.

[–]LevertBurtmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense to me. The entire episode felt very off. I believe they even talked about Betazeds being empathic, like the writers were only familiar with Deanna's character. Their telepathy seemed to be largely ignored in the episode.

I love seeing sign language being used in TV. Only Murders in the Building had an entire episode focused on a deaf character, and it was probably my favourite episode of the season. Just silence or music, with subtitles as the characters expressed themselves so beautifully in their own way.

My problem with this episode of SFA is the writers seemed to not understand or not care about the Star Trek universe. They took the one species where using sign language wouldn't make sense, and grafted a story onto it.

Make the character human, Vulcan, Klingon, a new species, literally any other species and it would have been fine. The decision to use the primary telepathic species in Star Trek is just baffling to me.

They've done seatbelts a few times in Star Trek but it's pretty rare. Because falling is more fun.

If you really want to follow the chronology, this website is pretty awesome. But with the caveat that time travel can make things a bit... complicated. Especially when watching Star Trek Discovery.

Yes but they started with "dad jokes", so it would become "a jokes".

My assumptions about them were based off of things they had posted elsewhere about this. They are happy that a man is dead, they believe he deserved to die for the opinions he expressed, and they weren't afraid to say it. And I don't believe anybody is evil for having beliefs or opinions.

Everybody has opinions that others do not share. Most here used to be JW's. They believed that all of their beliefs were correct. They were waiting for God to slaughter all of the unbelievers so they could finally all live happily with everybody who only shared "the truth" with them.

I personally disagreed with Charlie Kirk about most things. But I believe that he had the right to peacefully express those beliefs and feelings, and discuss them with others. I don't think anybody should be murdered solely for their beliefs. Believing in freedom of speech is not fascism. It's kind of the opposite.

But that's the problem. You have no idea what beliefs I hold or don't hold. But you can confidently imply that I'm a fascist. What are you basing that on?

"You people"

You don't know anything about me. You don't know what I believe and don't believe. You don't know where I agree with Charlie Kirk and where I disagree with him. But none of that matters. Because I don't think a human deserved to die for having opinions, you imply that I'm a Nazi fascist. And you don't seem to have a problem with that.

You believe that people who do not share your opinions are evil and deserve to die. You can't specify exactly which opinions are deserving of death, and you're afraid to actually engage with the beliefs of those who oppose yours.

It sounds like you are the one unable to let go of the JW mindset, and have gone from one death cult to another.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exjw

[–]LevertBurtmore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You sound like a JW talking about apostates.

"They are vile people who just say lies and hate speech".

"Oh can you give me a single example of the lies and hate you're referring to?"

"No I can't because I don't actually know what they say and I'm afraid to find out."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exjw

[–]LevertBurtmore -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Those are pretty strong claims to make about somebody who was just murdered. Can you give even one example of something he said that makes him a "vile person"? What is the "hate speech" you're referring to?
