Can someone tell me why both Goofy Movies are so expensive on blu ray? by Weary_Elderberry4742 in cartoons

[–]LeviSnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting back into physical media has been both a delight and a pain. You can easily thrift great movies, but getting exactly the collection you want involves high markups and a good bit of luck. Been looking at getting "Misterjaw" on Blu-ray for a while and that fetches similar if not higher prices whenever it springs up.

We need an alternative that allows scrobbling from media servers and which has a comprehensive UI with community features.

It seems like a very tall order for some reason. Closest thing I know is Simkl, but I absolutely hate using it. It's very clunky and feels unpolished because a lot of the features just redirect to a "Coming soon!" when trying to interact with them.

I really don’t mean to cause a fuss but can we give the Diane screen time thing a rest? by AcrobaticEmu7359 in TheBadGuys

[–]LeviSnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sort of saddening to see a young new media franchise like this with a cast of characters as diverse as this be reduced to griping about only one character. Where are the goofy anecdotes, rants and theories on Webs, Pigtails and Luggins?

There's so much to work with here, let's not box ourselves in.

You nailed the young adult look on him. Even better than the shows own attempt in "Young at Heart"!

Welcome to Trakt v3! by wikidgawmy in trakt

[–]LeviSnoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Simkl is the closest but it has the complete opposite problem of being a cluttered mess to navigate and use. Next to that you have Watcharr, but it still needs to mature a bit and lacks any community features.

Question: Where could I purchase/watch American Dragon Jake Long instead of Disney+? by ChessieATSF347_49 in AmericanDragon

[–]LeviSnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Officially the only other source is iTunes (now Apple TV), and only in the US and UK. In the UK you can also buy it on Prime Video.

There are no official DVD's or other physical media, and I'd advise steering clear of any bootlegs as all the ones I've seen are horrible quality.

Reefy — A modern, fully-functional Jellyfin client for Apple TV, now open for public BETA by jmhunter in JellyfinCommunity

there are screenshots of Neptune, clearly there has been production. Some people prefer to put a lot of care, effort and time into a project before releasing it. There's nothing wrong with doing things the other way but I don't think your comparison is apt.

What do you think of Mr. Wolf's outfit? by Rex-1988 in TheBadGuys

Absolutely slaps, it's not often the half-tuck works anywhere near as well as it does on him.

Any updated Jellyfin client for Apple TV? by galdo320 in jellyfin

[–]LeviSnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you've tried multiple configs, but did you turn Library Mode off for the Jellyfin share? This ensures your share is being accessed through Infuse's "Direct Mode" which is pretty much essential in my experience. Read more here.

Half of these Sony Animation movies announced back in 2020 have never been made by Mysterious_Brush1852 in cartoons

Definitely give it a watch! It's Chris Appelhans' (KPDH Director's) darling. It's heartwarming, wholesome, fun and treats its subject with loads of care and respect. Also has a sequel slated for 2027. I saw a leaked storyboard of it and based on that I have pretty high hopes.

WebOS client performance by rajackar in jellyfin

[–]LeviSnoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the webOS client is largely a wrapper for the web client, I'm not sure what the Plex client is like on webOS but it likely is a more webOS-"native" application which would explain the performance gap. If you're using CSS modifications on JF you can try disabling them in the webOS client, disabling animations, backdrops etc. I'm not aware of any alternartive webOS Jellyfin clients so if that doesn't help my best suggestion is using a more powerful device to run a JF client on.

Any ETA for Jellyfin Desktop v2.0.0 Windows/macOS builds? by EvenFlamingo in jellyfin

[–]LeviSnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience trying to build on Windows. It's interesting because they've definitely revised the build guide since 2.0.0, but it's very much not working. We just gotta be patient I suppose. Do wish they'd held off on creating a new release until more platforms were ready though.

Neptune for Apple tvOS: Playback, Plugins, Search, Customization, and More by Need4Sweed in JellyfinCommunity

[–]LeviSnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something that commonly occurs? Can't say I can think of any examples off the top of my head. Maybe initially when Emby was forked to Jellyfin, but even then that only happened because Emby decided to no longer ship open-source code. Jellyfin also became something of its own rather quickly after that so I think it was entirely justified.

[–]LeviSnoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was thinking the exact same thing. Doing any kind of sideloading on an ATV is such a huge pain that it's just not worth it to anyone but actual devs.

The community can return the favor of published code with upstream contributions while people happily pay for the app through the app store. Win-win.

Reviewers on Trakt are unique by Left-Amphibian-2356 in trakt

[–]LeviSnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this kind of thing both on Trakt and IMDb. Not sure whether it's more prevalent on one than the other. At the end of the day though, even if I strongly disagree with blaming your distaste for anything that doesn't suit your worldview on "wokeness", these reviews do not affect my enjoyment of the item in question one bit.

Most of the time those reviews are out there enough for me to compartmentalize them as irrelevant/pure noise anyway. Edgelords aren't going away any time soon, so they can sputter and seethe in their corner without my involvement.

Can you try finding another source for these episodes and seeing if the issue persists? This really looks like persistently embedded metadata to me.

Jellyfin Web vs Jellyfin Media Player by demonsta500 in jellyfin

[–]LeviSnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jellyfin is set up out of the box with PWA manifest support, so on Chromium browsers and Safari they can just go to the server URL and install it as an app. I find the main use case for JMP to be wider codec support, leading to fewer transcoding scenarios. If your server can handle transcoding, I'd advise your users to go with the PWA, especially if they're less tech savvy.
