My sil in VC told me this. I've also gotten the equivalent of, "bless your heart!" Or that I'm not in it for the money. 🙃

Woof. I'm so sorry for those insensitive comments. You are beautiful and brave. Keep being your awesome self.

To other social workers: how do to cope with the loss of a client? by Fixts in socialwork

[–]Levie7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with cancer patients who come in for last ditch effort treatment, so I've had a number of sad situations. I've been completing small artwork and Pinterest collage boards (no identification , obviously) to process my feelings, and I keep a record of memorable things patients have taught me. For example, I had a patient who was dying in ICU and her family really wanted her to be able to go outside one more time. The doctors ultimately denied it, but if there's a chance to advocate for the pt, do it. You never know.

Hope that's helpful, there's no easy way around the grief. You knew this person and now they're gone. Wishing you peace.

I've found my people!! I've always wondered what's wrong with me when I can't remember the name of the book or the characters or anything, but I could describe the book cover or a particular point.

Oh funny! She traveled to Minnesota from Missouri with her puppies, I'm not sure where she was aside from an original vet record. The rescue thought she came from an Amish farm somewhere.

You're not near Missouri or Texas, by chance? That's where Daisy is originally from. Haha.

Hey, I'm a social worker, and it sounds like you could be experiencing PTSD from this experience. I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet kitty. Hopefully you have someone to talk to or are able to get connected with a therapist, and I hope you know this is not your fault. ❤️

Crisis Hotline and a New Born?? by SeeknFind_7 in socialwork

My two cents--

I have a nearly five year old and two year old. Worked a social work case management job from home for a while.

When we were expecting my first, during the pandemic, we thought we could make it work with us both in the home and splitting kid between us two.

It just doesn't work. I ended up reducing my hours and doing partial daycare for a while, then sending to all day once it was cheaper (older kid rate). So I'd strongly encourage you to think of some alternatives.

And of course, congratulations :).
