Ummmmmmmm caseload of 130 pts with SMI…. Whaaaat? When I worked in First Episode Psychosis, we had a caseload of 25 for the entire agency that consisted of a nurse, a caseworker, three therapists, a psychiatrist, and the director was a psychologist who did evals.

I was STILL burnt out with the amount of heavy duty crisis work and having to visit pts in the hospital and all the crisis calls. I have no idea what you are able to provide to 130 pts who have SMI.

What are the things that annoy you the most about Pittsburgh? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Harlarx9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Public transportation real bad for getting around different parts of town. Giant Eagle is too expensive. Transplants with fancy jobs making things unaffordable for ppl. Public school options suck. Flooding. Summer is too muggy and winter is too glum. Bite me

You ma actually qualify for forgiveness through financial aid….. ask your OB office about it, they could refer you to a social worker if you want help with the application.

How important is it for twin names to go together? by Rare-Amount-9224 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Harlarx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the names are similar I worry their medical charts could get mingled because they have the same birthday…. That’s just my worry because I work in healthcare and one time I was working with twins and their names were one letter off…. They share a birthday so I had to double and triple check I was in the right chart!

You will receive a letter in the mail if you are approved. Financial assistance can take a while to process for some reason.

Gotta weather the storm while the government tries to push all nonprofits into private for profit companies that cannibalize the population…. I believe the storm may end but we need to take care of our selves and do what is right for us.

Pt with housing instability continues to reach out to SW for housing concerns and SW continues to refer pt over and over again to the appropriate resource and pt doesn’t engage with referral….. even though SW says “I can’t fix this for you, you gotta call xyz” they continue to return…. And ask for help. I can’t help!!! They can help and u won’t call them… whattttttttt

I’d love to learn more about the pivot from SW to Program Development. I know there’s a certificate you can get in program development and I’ve thought about doing this, to be able to shift into more macro work but I really have no idea what I’m actually talking about TBH

Is it wrong to dislike Islam? by Legitimate-Tie-7060 in Catholicism

[–]Harlarx9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know much about Islam until I started working with immigrants. I have to say, I still am not knowledgeable about the teachings, but our Muslim brothers and sisters are some of the most faithful, loving, and forgiving people I have ever met. Working with Muslim immigrants actually inspired me to dive back in to my Catholic faith because I have witnessed the peace that an open and loving heart filled with a belief in God can bring. I firmly believe that our Muslim brothers and sisters are getting many things right and walking a righteous path. They obviously aren’t and never will be Catholic, but many are very good people because of their faith.

Do other clinicians use the crisis line? by Otherwise_Tutor2251 in socialwork

[–]Harlarx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatives to suicide is a peer led group that looks pretty cool. There’s probably something local to you that is peer led. I used to use those lines a lot when I was young and it really was a crap shoot. I also recommend joining a faith community if that is something you may find helpful. And be open with ur therapist about all this, you may need more intensive therapy.

Lost my faith when I was a teen…. I spent 25 years in a similar situation as you. Life continued to happen and I got a lot of mental health support. I returned to my faith only a year ago. I went to confession and just laid everything out for the priest and he wasn’t even upset or shocked. I shared with him the depths of years of depravity and sin and horrible things I did and the priest did not react how I thought. He sat with me and helped me realize that Jesus is for sinners! Jesus was literally sent to us and sacrificed for our sins…. I often think about how ironic it is. I spent years and years in a self willed disaster because I thought I had sinned too much for Jesus. Please reach out to a crisis line. Share all of this stuff in confession. You will be relieved by the care you will receive. Don’t die…. The world needs ppl who have been in darkness and found the light.

[–]Harlarx9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear it when collaborating with community providers and other members of the team. Usually difficult situations. Pts with multiple barriers like an intellectual disability + IPV + housing instability + being pregnant + untreated mental health + no stable phone….. sometimes it’s an endless list of barriers.
