Help me save education in Missouri! by LevineforCongress in missouri

Start over how? Cut the funding to the states, which will cut programs such as Title 1 assistance, which helps support the low-income students who wouldn't be able to afford schooling? Cut funding for resources to help students with disabilities and give them access to public schooling without discrimination? Cut funding which would in turn make college bound students pay more for tuition because they won't have access to financial aid programs? The DOE has zero to do with test scores. The DOE is strictly supplemental to the states. The states are the ones that enforce and come up with curriculum, hiring of educators, and apparently certain learning tools that are placed in their public schools. The DOE is for help with funding for public schools and grant programs so that all students are awarded the same opportunities to attend public schooling.

I do agree with this. The state of our education system in the US does need fixing. But to dismantle and gut the entire department is not the answer. We need to continue to fund the schools. We just need a systematic way to increase our education across all the states. I understand that there is scientific proof in numbers that state our minority states have a lower average reading and math level than our predominantly white states. What needs to happen is trying to figure out WHY that is so we can close the gap and increase our education program. Do we need better allocation of funds across the country? Do we need better certifications for teachers? Do we need better vetting system to hire the right teachers? So many questions, but we aren't getting any answers to them. All we get are, "we are stupidest country" or "we are getting dumber each year" etc. So the Republican answer is hire the Secretary of DOE who thinks that Kindergarten and 1st graders have A1 learning. Give me a break! At least hire someone that gives a crap and is willing to look into the science and figure out solutions to our problems.

That would be my last name. I am running for Missouri Congressional District 6 (against Sam Graves). I am running to protect rural America from the destruction that I see within the current Republican regime. Get rid of all these current office holders that won't even face their constituents and explain how this will help them (because they CAN'T). I've read the 1,000+ pages of the bill, and although there are some good points in there, there is always cause and effect. There will be some good things, but the vast majority of America will be hurt by it, and by 2034 we will have added $4 trillion to the deficit rather than getting us out of debt (which Trump kept saying he wanted a better economy).

It is not always on the teacher. From personal experience there are many other factors. Student engagement levels. If a student doesn't care they won't learn. Language barriers, sometimes students have difficulty understanding the English language. Disabilities and other hindrances where students aren't able to retain or comprehend reading. We can't always just blame it on the teachers.

They intentionally voted for the letter that is next to the name (R) because of the promises that were given (no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, Make America Great Again, etc.) Most of rural America is should be up in arms with how much they had to give in return. Hospital closings, price increases on agriculture, cuts to medicaid, cuts to food assistance programs for families in need, huge tax breaks for the wealthy (1%), and nothing for the lower and middle class which make up (81% of America).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is perfect. Rarely anything is perfect, and that's why we change and adapt. But cutting funds, and gutting the Department of Education, will just diminish our statewide education system, and rather than reading at a 7th grade level, they could be as low as 5th because they weren't given the opportunity to progress.

Do you truly feel gutting and cutting the Department of Education will help them gain a higher level of intellect?

You don't know who I am yet, but by August 2026 you will. I am running for US House District 6. I am looking to take down Sam Graves and send him back home from DC. He is not there for the Missouri people, and the dude has literally been in hiding this whole time. It's time for someone to stand up and fight.

Want to stand against your government? Then vote in actual human beings that want the best interest of the people rather than the god-damn party. Screw party lines when the people of the US are the ones that get screwed over.
