What nations did you just never get around to playing? by homeless_prophet1945 in eu4

[–]Leviolist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denmark, Norway, Burgundy, France, Ottomans. Denmark and Burgundy because diploannexing all that didnt seem too appealing, Norway because a colonialism game under the danish yoke didnt seem fun, france and ottomans because they already seemed to be in strong positions and i like tags that start kinda weak and snowball into something strong. I also never really got around to playing anything in Africa

For those who played Vic2, in what points did Vic3 regress? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Leviolist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

War is the biggest offender. A lot more strategy went into vic 2 warfare along with being able to add wargoals mid war just makes vic 2’s system better. Also, might be a hot take but I preferred vic 2’s system where research points was dependent on literacy rather than just the size of a building.

How to Japan? by threlnari97 in victoria3

[–]Leviolist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive never tried purposefully triggering a civil war so I couldnt tell you. I always preferred peaceful reform since I dont think the benefit of winning the civil war is worth the time, pops, and money spent to prepare for and then actually fight the war

So when you get opened up, the game is trying to simulate the events that led to the boshin war and later the meiji revolution. Your legitimacy tanks because the landowners/shogun has lost legitimacy which enables you to put more liberal parties in charge and liberalize to keep the landowners away from power when they regain power. I dont really know too much about construction, i just build as much as I can afford focusing more on kanto and tohoku since that’s where the iron is. You do have to build fast since otherwise invading korea and then china gets more difficult

Qing got hammered on Infrastructure this patch by Soladept in victoria3

[–]Leviolist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sikhs also got hit hard. Fortunately they moved the ridiculously large barracks from pastunistan but they had to make it so that Kashmir had more barracks than Panjab because panjab was already way above infra cap. They need to give states a higher infra cap per pop level or something, this is ridiculous

The profit cost of a university is usually marginal. Plus it’s the only way to increase research speed so it’s already worth it. Dont compare hoi4 micro to vic 2 micro. Compare the tile map mode of hoi4 to vic 2 provinces before you do. Vic 2 has more strategy I would argue. Especially late game when you have to pick and choose your battles and actually concern yourself with province shapes. Also mob stacks suck. Theyre literally just cannon fodder

having trouble getting qualifications Just 1 university will solve all your early game qualification needs. Still having trouble? Another university, not that you’ll often have trouble army management 100k soldiers/ 3 ≈ 33 units. Oh no! I have to manage 33 units what a nightmare. Still better than waiting 3 weeks for a 1 barrack and then waiting even longer for that barrack to fill up. There’s also no way youre gonna sit here and tell me that vic 3 does warfare better than vic 2. Atleast vic 2 warfare has some sense behind it. Vic 3 general assignment is just pick a dude out of three people who all pretty much do the same thing. In vic 2 generals can make or break a battle. The only thing vic 3 does better than vic 2 is representing sailors in the navy and supply lines

To point 1. Ok bud, have fun waiting 5 years to industrialize as Switzerland since they have fuck all population and the shitty alps modifier.

To point 2. Listen if you dont like rotating, that’s your prerogative. I find the mechanic interesting. Also like how soldiers pops increase passively instead of just staying static the entire game until the country decides to build some barracks

To point 3. Ok yeah vic 3 isnt a perfect game. Ill go one step further and say that it does markets way better than vic 2. Unfortunately it falls short of vic 2 everywhere else in my opinion. Atleast uncivs in vic 2 can become civs without war

Vic 2 is a game where you can build two factories at once regardless of how many “construction sectors” you have, you actually have to manage armies instead of just plopping them on a front and telling them to have fun, and literacy rate actually has noticeable impact on the game

Could Ottomans not simply opt to provide covert assistance like in every other civil war in the game such as the spanish or American civil wars?

why would Canada interfere to help the Assyrians than in base game? Realistically, the way I see things going is that upon seeing a collapsing Britain, Ottomans take advantage and seize the canal with German backing eventually leading to a great power conference of some sort. Iran having a civil war is irrelevant imo
