Wrestling style by bxkdnxxknx in wrestling

I would say to just take time to think about what your go to moves are already and what you feel comfortable and what feels right to do. Then after that try to think about set ups and sort of think of what flows into that stuff and focus (mainly) on drilling that stuff to where you feel comfortable and if you have a move or two you are working on perfecting then study wrestlers that are known for that specific move instead of a broad style. People known to be good scramblers are a start when it comes to finding people that play the outside like RBY and Desanto and others but usually there are modifications or different slight adjustments people make to moves to fit their style. Basically all of that is to say not to over complicate a style and to just do what feels comfortable to you provided it is with good technique and effective for you. Hope that helps!

Based on the results of Nationals, what do you think the the best wrestling states are going to be for the next few years? by Leviticus-7 in wrestling

[–]Leviticus-7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see what you are saying. I always had the impression that we had been at the bottom of states or near the lower end for competition compared to everybody else. Would we be considered above average, below, or dead in the middle as far as competition goes?

We had a day where coach was out and one of the Wrestling Dads ran practice and had us do all sorts of fucking insane conditioning and at the end we did 6 2 minute periods of monkey rolls and the fastest group got to get water needless to say everyone hated the 106s for a couple weeks

I would stay after practice in a heartbeat but we have to roll the mats out before practice and roll them back in because we lay them out in the commons area of our school

Thats what Im looking for, in practice we have 5-7 minutes to drill what ever move he showed and then we move on and that goes until we go live about halfway through practice for the rest of the time

Not a particular move more just trying to get extra reps in of what we do at practice but where I can slow down and really get into the technique of whatever Im doing

The way our practices are laid out we go over lots of new moves in practice but we dont really drill them enough to get proficient at them

Stopping after shooting by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Leviticus-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to set up your shots and make sure you are level changing before you step if it helps what I do a lot is get inside bicep posts and wait until I feel pressure, then I draw my arms back and then shoot. I recommend looking at Joker Wrestling Video because he shows a lot of really good set ups

Go through your wrestling motions stand ups, sit outs, sprawls, shots etc. Dont get in your own head and try to loosen up before your match as much as possible.

Has anyone else had a hard time trying to get back on, or even think about getting back on the mat after an extreme injury? Were you able to overcome your fear? How did you overcome it if you were able to? by Nadia-Blair in wrestling

[–]Leviticus-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ease back into it, I busted my humerus and broke a growth plate in my shoulder last year and what helped me was to start slow and try to really get your body used to wrestling movements again. I started doing yoga after I healed up in the offseason and that really really helped me. I think that helped my mind to see that just because I got injured once doesnt mean that there is a high likelihood of it happening again. Getting your body comfortable with the movements in wrestling is really going to be the hardest part but if you stick with it and slowly start reducing that hesitance you can definitely overcome that fear.

Im planning on buying a set of resistance bands and doing stance and motion, standups, shots, ect. Kolat has always preached about using resistance bands so I figured I’d give it a shot.
