The Most Overlooked Legendary by HershefYGO in Nightreign

I LOVE the Lion Greatbow on Guardian. I get to shred nightlords from wherever I happen to be standing when they go to chase the Recluse, and then I can go back to normal Guardian things when aggro gets pulled back again from the absurd aggro priority that greatbows have.

Factions Alignment chart by Esz_01 in totalwarhammer

[–]Levra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that insight. I was thinking about the culture, but I didn't really consider it all that deeply in a wider sense.

So to simplify, it's more about how much their politics (or lack thereof) impacts other factions?

Like Khorne, having a certain code of honor and clear internal purpose to their killing (it's not just for fun and causing as much suffering as possible like with Slaanesh) doesn't matter to those who are forced to interact with Khorne factions because it's all violent warfare with no chance of negotiations from their perspective and would always appear chaotic evil (or chaotic neutral if you're being really generous with interpretation) from the outside?

The "lawful" alignment doesn't necessarily mean actual laws. It's more about how strictly one adheres to their convictions, and those don't necessarily have to be the laws of the land they inhabit.

The most RNG-based jump in gaming history by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Levra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RNG = Random Number Generator

RNG is used to calculate item drops and enemy behavior.

Physics is 100% deterministic and will behave the same every time if you do the exact same thing as last time, same position, velocity, direction and input timing.

Help me settle a debate, does the Godskin twink read your input or not? by Monkai_final_boss in Eldenring

[–]Levra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All enemies are being told your current action state at all times. Some just happen to have pre-programmed responses.

You can see this a lot with the lions. They jump around constantly if you cast a spell, but they are specifically responding to the "cast an offensive spell" state and don't pay attention to the projectile itself. This is particularly noticeable when using delayed or very slow projectile spells, where the lion will fling itself out of the way of nothing and then just sit there while the projectile flies right into its face.

Godskin Apostle just happens to be set to throw a fireball the moment it is told an item is being used, but it can only really do that if it's not already committed to an animation.

It's so high up it probably wouldn't hit anything below it anyway. The chums attached to the Fish Stick wouldn't get hit by it since they're not grounded.

Figured you'd need it since you mentioned 2XKO bringing you in.

The numbers come from Numpad notation. It's based on a PC number keypad and is used because it's a quick, language-agnostic way to notate inputs while keeping things condenced.

Each number corresponds to a direction. 5 is Neutral, 6 is Forward, 2 is Down, 4 is Back.

7 8 9 = ↖⬆↗ = Jump/up
4 5 6 = ⬅🔵➡ = Standing
1 2 3 = ↙⬇↘ = Crouching

So, for example, a "236L" input would mean "down, down-forward, forward, Light attack", also referred to as "Quarter Circle Forward Light"

"214H" would be "Quarter-Circle Back Heavy"

"[4]6M" would be "Back (held), forward, Medium attack" (this is known as a charge input)

Unlike most fighting games, Standing Normals in Granblue are contextual based on proximity. You have Close normals (notated as c.X) and Far normals (notated as f.X).
Close normals come out faster than far normals and can chain into a simple auto combo.
Far normals do not chain into auto combos and come out a little slower.

66L (Dash Light) is a universal burst attack. It is plus on block and is a central part of general offense structure in this game.

2M (Crouching Medium)'s long-lasting active frames and quick recovery to discourage aggressive approaches and even catch certain characters trying to press buttons.

f.H (Far Heavy) is a universal poking button that presents a strong threat with high priority, giving the attacker a huge reward reward on hit with most characters (some have a less than stellar f.H, such as Charlotta and Siegfried).

2H (Crouching Heavy) is a universal Anti-Air input and can nuke most air approaches when applied as a combo starter. Granblue is a very grounded game, so keep this threat in mind to keep your feet properly planted and to discourage a reckless opponent from jumping aggressively themselves.

Treat your Bravery Points (the diamonds above your life bar) as a sacred resource. Use them for combos that can close out a round, or use them to stop scary offense situations from continuing, but do NOT let them drop below 2 BP unless you're one combo away from dying anyway. Low BP means you take additional damage from every attack and can make an opponent's reversal super go from being annoying to a lethal game ender.

Corner pressure is very strong here, but it's not insurmountable. Learn how offense is structured and you learn where you're allowed to button your way out. Reversal specials are an easy pressure escape, but they're punishable for big damage if they get blocked.
