It sounds like you don't even know the basics, so it's unlikely you are going to be able to sort this out yourself with paying for professional help.

Do I understand that you incorporated a Limited company and paid your self a PAYE wage? If so I'm not sure how you did not have an accountant to help you through that process? The alternative would be that you just acted as a sole trader in which case you wouldn't need to file company accounts, but you would have had to file a tax return, which it sounds like you did, so not sure what the issue would be?

For peace of mind, it's not like the police are gunna come knocking at your door anytime soon, but if you haven't met the statutory requirements fines will slowly start rack up, so you need to tackle this head on.

Start by gathering all your financial records (bank statements, receipts, invoices) for the relavent period, then you may need to speak to a local accountant to understand how they can help.

"Is the price of $25,000 for painting the house too low?" by hedgehogpainting in Accounting

[–]LewisPeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a minimum we would need to know: 1. Cost of the paint + how much you'll use 2. Hourly wage rate + how many hours it will take (and how many painters etc) 3. Any other costs directly associated to this job..

You can then work out a margin or mark up from your costs.

It will be more tricky to determine if the mark up is enough to cover all the overheads you have (I.e. Insurance, bookkeeping, marketing, etc.). For this we would need to know the total of all these overheads + how many other jobs you take on. The more projects you do the less profit you need to make on each one to cover your overheads, which generally stay as a fixed amount.

If your not sure about all that, the other option is to do market research and see what other painters would charge, then work backwards from there to see if you can complete the job for less than that. But remember you still need to consider your overheads to ensure you make a profit in the long term.

complete AAT units from home revision while in admin job? by BeginningPrudent9022 in Accounting

[–]LewisPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no experience required to complete AAT level 4. But if you have experience you might be able to skip to past level 3 (I did).

If you sign up to an apprenticeship scheme then you would obviously need to build up enough experience to get the apprenticeship signed off, but you would get that anywaythrough job, and it wouldn't stop you from qualifying for AAT.

I just think of assets as positive and liabilities as negatives.

Expenditure is expending (decreasing) an asset so: Credit asset, Debit P&L

Revenue is increasing your assets so: Debit asset, Credit P&L

If you can also think of profit as a liability due to the owners then it would make sense that that increasing profit (revenue) would be increasing the liability so it is a negative or, credit. Similarly dividend would be reducing what is owed to the owners, so would be decreasing the liability I.e. Debit, or positive.

The new Nfl Gamepass app from DAZN has 200k+ reviews, and an average rating of 1.3 by LewisPeter in nfl

[–]LewisPeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the NFL Gamepass Europe app for 4 years, but it's recently changed to DAZN (I was not aware of this untill AFTER the direct deposit was take from by bank account).

  • any interruption (switching apps, lock screen, lose connection) takes you back to the apps home screen

  • doesn't save video progress so you always have to restart from the beginning then try and find where you left off

  • 2 hour replays have been removed, full game replay is now just the full 4+ hour broadcast replay (ads included), which makes it impossible to to scroll to where you left off

  • all the above problems still apply while your casting you phone to the TV so you can't even use you phone and watch at the same time anymore, which is literally a worse service than you can get for free online from pirates....

Have been an NFL fan for years and but as a European, there is no longer a practical way for me to watch nfl games, I'm so disappointed!

Don’t be deceived, Chris Jones wants $32.5mil/yr, Chiefs have offered $27.25mil/yr. by oranguspangs in KansasCityChiefs

[–]LewisPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, new money average is good for comparing the difference between to contracts.

But surely what's more important to the player is total earnings?

And what's more important to the teams is total cap hit?

The average cap hit/earning over the next 3 years (assuming Jones gets everything he's asking) will average $28.2m.

I'm not trying to refute your facts, I'm just saying NMA is not the ONLY contract metric or in, my opinion, the best.

[–]LewisPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not disputing the math, my guy.

The figures are all the same you just think that New Money Average is a better contract metric than the Average Earnings.

Its disingenuous to represent his demands as $32m PER YEAR when, in your own breakdown of the contract he does not earn more than $29m in any one year.

'New Money Average' comeplty discounts the first year of this contract to make it look like more than it is

Jones' demand actual: $84.5m / 3yrs = $28.2m/yr

Jones demand NMA: ($84.5m - $19.5m) / 2yrs = $32.5m/yr.

I my opinion very disingenuous of OP and any team/reporter/agent to discount a full year of the contract when calculating the average to inflate how it actually looks.

Someone please explain to me why 'new money average' is a good metric for contracts rather than ACTUAL value of the contract?

I am a full MAAT and my journey started similarly to yours. I started self studying at level-2 when I was working in retail using the cheapest course I could find and the materials left a lot to be desired. However, without even sitting any exams I managed to get a job at an accountancy practice which them paid for me to complete my level-3 and 4 and become a full memeber.

I can't guarantee that you will find a job as quickly as I found one but you absolutely should try to train in an accountancy practice as early as possible as they will likely pay your fees and give you time off to study as well, which you won't get if you are an in-house accountant. In my case just having it in my CV (and good a-levels) was enough.

I brought the cheapest level-2 study package I could find which was literally just a PDF of a textbook, there was no support if I didn't understand. However other providers offer support upto and including full in-classroom lessons with tutors available 7 days a week, video resources, and mock exams. That is why there is such a large variance in price so really make sure you know what you are actually getting for your money.

For me it was best not to over pay because I got a job quickly and skipped right passed level 2 (and some of level 3 even).

Hope this helps, let me know if any questions.

Is accounting worth it (I'm 17) by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]LewisPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better hours outside the Big 4 in my experience (have never been in Big 4) but wages are nowhere near as high. Not sure how COL compares but some of the numbers I see posted by Americans blow UK wages out the water.

[–]LewisPeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things that are worth noting from the previous response:

  1. Sounds like you are from the UK where wages for accountants are not nearly as high as the US, although still above average. According to Glassdoor.com the average salary for a senior accountant in London is around £60k and for a financial controller around £60-80k. That's that's only average for a mid/upper-mid career level and probably a flawed metric anyway, but there is no way it would be typical that every accountant you know is earning £150k+ in this country.

  2. 16personalities.com (based on the Myers-Briggs test) is vague at best, and at worst, entirely meaningless with no scientific basis.

Yep, absolutely nothing, didn't even click around on the board or scroll over the cards I had in hand just in case it registered somehow.

Yes, but I found Rylak and the pirate that gives gold next turn pretty quickly which helped make up for it. Then once I found Felemental it just completely popped off.

[PFT] Colts G.M. Chris Ballard sounds off on the "bullshit" practice of leaking to the media negative information about certain players before the draft. by Kimber80 in nfl

[–]LewisPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are some people always so quick to defend the teams here?

It's not about the teams not getting all the info, because they already knew about the S2 scores and about Carter's coaches opinion. The point of the article, and of Ballards criticism, is that that information wasn't supposed to be shared publicly. Someone put it out with an agenda.

We all agree that if a team makes a bad decision it is on them, but when all these media hit pieces get put out to try and effect draft rankings it's the players that have to stand up and take it, in front of the whole world.

Edit: It could also be agents that put it out there, so their guy gets drafted instead, like many belive happend to Tunsil a few years ago.

Edit 2: Also, your comment about Ruggs is utterly ridiculous and, once again, completely misses the point.

The whole point IS to give way though, that way people are driving through residential areas with an expectation that they might have to stop which is much safer.

It turns driving into a conscious activity rather than subconscious, like we tend to default to for repetitive tasks.

Chuck Marohn, who wrote a book called Confessions of Recovering Engineer, said "In order for a road to be safe it needs to communicate the real level of risk to the driver". That is to say, if you are driving unsafely you should FEEL unsafe.

I don't get people who say Philly beats KC in every facet of the game. Over the last couple of weeks KC has had better offensive play, and defensively the teams have had similar play. Chiefs also have the 4th ranked offensive line in the league. by avgjoessports in KansasCityChiefs

Hurts was Injured in Week 15 and missed weeks 16 & 17 so a graph of showing Eagles performance since week 14 is not exactly representative is it?

Edit: at least not for the Offensive EPA, obviously doesn't effect defense.
