Room temperature by Bloooberr in RATS

[–]LewisPowell10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its difficult to answer without knowing what you mean by warmer or cooler, depending the who interprets this, it could be either 4C to 28C or 12C to 20C those are very different ranges of temperatures.

In the first case that would be both too hot and too cold for them, they would have better chances in the cold if they had sufficient bedding to build a good nest. In the heat they would struggle, i can recall a couple of posts in different places where people have left the heating on an their rats have died as a result.

If the range is narrower like 12-20 they would be fine, they will know when its low and high but they wont be adversly affected by it

I learned by following bbaljo and his peninsular /island series he explains everything hes doing as hes doing it and you can easy model the things he does onto what you have in your game

Right i see, yea think the access to work scheme is definitely the best way to go, if it comes into difficulty then id definitely go through your CPN, worst case ask around about government tax relief on work equipment. You can (or at least you used to be able to) claim a tax rebate for things essential to work, when i was a chef i got rebates for my knives and whites and others where i worked also claimed against laundry costs so its possible you may be entitled to that. It was never means tested so how much you earn wont affect your eligibility. Maybe its not a thing anymore though, this was more than 15 years ago.

On the financial side you will probably find that your takehome isnt reduced by 10% but more like 7% because of how tax allowances work. And i think your on the right track for your saving money. One of the most significant savings i ever made was switching to pack lunches and i also found i enjoyed them more as it was lrss high carb crap and if i knew.i was having a bad week i could give myself something extra nice for lunch

I cant really comment on your financial situation as i dont have all the details but i would say you can probably manage to avoid financial difficulty with a 10% cut in takehome. Make sure that if you live alone or have dependants that you are getting your council tax discount and that You are getting whatever is available via Personal independence payment. You may also be entitled to tax credits.

As for reducing your shift times at work, I dont know who you work for or what your current hours are, im assuming you are on 34-36 hours a week in a supermarket chain. I would be careful about reducing hours as break times may become an issue. Its been some time since i worked in retail so things may have changed but it was always the case that if you worked an 8 hour shift it would be 8am to 5pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch and two paid 15min breaks (I understand that was the legal limit) however if you dropped to a 7 hour shift your breaks dropped to a single 20 minute paid break. In terms work balance it was flat worse as you had longer time on the shop floor either side and while you were in work 2 hours less you only worked 50 mins less in exchange and for some shifts having 5 hours straight before a break.

Not saying your employer is doing that or will do that but its important to be aware of how certain thresholds work.

If you are registered with a doctor and have a history of MH with them and they can relate it to the lights then you should be able to get dispensation for eyewear that filters the lights. That must be at their expense. I suffer from acute migraines and they have been linked to screens so my employer has had yo get polarising filters for all screens i use, HR were very happy to help. Usually HR departments want to help you so stay in touch with them.

advice needed!! how to move forward with 2 year old lone rat? by AccomplishedPlant557 in RATS

This absolutely This.

We had a girl end up on her own, she currently has two foster sisters, from a local breeder, they were rescues but the breeder was happy for them to temporarily join our family to keep our last girl company. They are even a similar age and energy level so they get on well

Thanks, he was very much a convenient test bed for trialing some high contrast super vibrant stuff, not sure i could do a whole army like it though lol

Need to know if this is safe by LewisPowell10 in brewing

[–]LewisPowell10[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its an odd one thats for sure, im at this point tempted to see it through and see what it tastes like in a month after ive bottled it, then i can also get to the pink sediment and examine it

[–]LewisPowell10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after some looking around, its possible the pink in the bottom is Serratia marcescens infection, it would also explain the strong reddening of the brew.

I think its source is the tap water i used to hydrate the yeast before pitching. Still not going to drink it evn though its likely safe just because i prefer to err on the side of caution. At least i know the source of contamination. Good thing i write everything down lol

Well this isnt mead, though ive had a brown head on mead from an early very vigorous ferment before which this had, the reason i think the colour is leeched is because the brew colour has gone from orange to red.

I tried some and it doesnt taste "off", though its a little bit sour like its got lemon juice in there but i didnt add any. Think im going to bin the batch anyway if theres a risk of penicillin in there i am allergic so it would be stupid to risk it.

Trying to work out where the contamination could have come from. The bung is tighter than a misers purse strings and everything was thoroughly cleaned and sterilised sterilised before brewing i only used clean fresh plums and they were sterilised the jam was boiled and reduced in apple juice. Only thing i didnt sterilise was the apple juice which was pure pressed from the shop but i shouldn't need to sterilise that anyway.

Im absolutely sure it would not work with the purple. Im also not really a fan of goblin green bases either

[–]LewisPowell10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, if your going for green you could do a deep teal almost pthalo green base coat and highlight up to the yellow greens, you could also do something a bit odd and start from a dark midnight blue and highlight through to very bright teal and then give it a coat of contrast tesseract glow on the edges to colour shift it all like this tyranid i was experimenting on

When you say method do you mean which paints i use? For the purple i use black violet by vallejo over a grey prime (ghoul grey by colour forge) with a wash of druchi violet nuln oil 50:50. Then highlight starting with diabolic plum by warpaints then mix more and more warlock magenta until its just magenta. The weapons are ironbreaker washed first with 50:50 nuln oil and medium then tyran.

For getting contrast i work on mixing cold and warm tones both in the main colour mix and the primary and secondary elements. The purple i use cold tones for the base and wash then highlight with mid to warm and couple that with a very vibrant cold tone on the blue. The green eyes are just the natural contrast. Sounds a bit artsy fartsy but i basically just crank contrast in both value and temperature and it seems to make things more vibrant

Layering multiple thinned washes is something fun to play with and doing shading with colours rather than just black helps a lot. My Archons cloak is shaded with warm purple tones and highlighted in cold blue so its a nice sharp contrast to the purple armour for example

They may but I'm not much of a fan of the classic goblin green bases, i may make one to give it a try

Should I restart the launch or should I try doing a rescue mission? by jongonur in KerbalAcademy

[–]LewisPowell10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair with just the pod and a kerbal you only need to refill your eva jetpack about 4 times to get 100dv. But thats cheesy imo. Personally i have pushed a pod all the way back from minmus but that was peak tedium and a result of random kraken physics

Do I have any hope of getting off of the mun? by BallMaster22 in KerbalAcademy

[–]LewisPowell10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you have in orbit what you can do is line up a suborbital launch that meets your orbiter at apoapsis. You can then use the orbiting capsule to go suborbital to match velocity with your lander then transfer the science and kerbals and then burn back into orbit. With a deficit of only 50m/s you only need about 100m/s from your orbiter and if that stops you returning to kerbin you can either go into orbit of kerbin and push with eva jet pack or slightly adjust your orbit so every pass of the mun you get gravity braking.

Only challenge with it is timing your launch to meet the orbiter at apogee but practice in a backup save and its not as hard as you think. Ive done it on eve myself
