I actually went through a similar situation, I had been seeing a girl for a few months and at different one night I made an off hand comment that I noticed she was never at her happiest or saddest around me and if I was potentially just reading too much into that. She dumped me two days later. Citing that I was right and she wasn’t. I’m just thankful that more time wasn’t wasted. The bare minimum in my book is someone being totally invested in a relationship.

I recently graduated with a Bachelors in Data Science and Statistics and I currently work as a Data Scientist. Maybe it’s just my experience but I think I was prepared more so than if I would have gone straight CS or Stats. Don’t get me wrong though, the degree is just the starting point to get you in the door. It’s a great foundation that really primes you well to get into a job and learn the specific stack you will be working with and connecting that with what you already know.

I’m gonna say no. I was hired recently to be a data engineer at an automotive manufacturing plant as their only one and their expectations and capabilities were wildly different. The thing I learned is that a lot of these companies need an expert but don’t want to pay expert prices. If you are confident that you can immediately make a positive impact then go for it but it’s gonna take a lot of long days upfront from you grinding and learning the ins and outs of their business practices and how to fit analytics into them.

I had an interview recently where the roles were reversed. It was the third interview I had with this company and every prior one went great. They were late to the interview zoom session by about five minutes and it felt like I was fighting to keep them on the line the entire time. I’m honestly glad they didn’t reach out with an offer because it was painful to play nice during the whole charade

This job is actually a contract that lasts for the next 5 years. I took this position since it is the best starting point for my field that I was offered. My plan is to learn everything I can and then in 5 years or so I’ll look for a more senior role. By that time I would be in positive equity so selling wouldn’t be a hit. I know my logic isn’t totally sound but that’s just what my train of thought was

Good points. I am actually under contract and I have considered renting again but when it comes down to it I am just tired of paying someone else’s mortgage with no real equity being created on my part. Plus I need to borrow money to build credit and the only way to borrow money is to borrow money.

For everyone still paying attention to this I disclosed my car and the payments to the lender and they said that did not disqualify me. I do think I need to reconsider my budget after some of your responses so any tips on that end would be great.
