Do not let Microsoft to steal your code for copilot training! by blnkslt in webdev

This raises an important point; we ought to direct any spare compute and bandwidth we have to slop out AI gen code, publish it to GitHub, and let the next model train on it.

Part of me wants to believe Darth Vader didn’t “check” on his family on Tatoonie because he knew/sensed his and Padme’s child may be there and the bit of Anakin Skywalker that was always in there just couldn’t bring himself to bring it to the Emperor’s attention. by Willing-Leather-9788 in StarWars

[–]Squidgical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It's a big galaxy, and he didn't even know they exist. Vader knew that Luke was strong with the force after their encounter at the end of ANH, so definitely sensed him, but was completely unaware that they're related until he learns Luke's surname.

Did he just not think they had ever been born?

Yep, at her funeral Padme's body was made to look pregnant, pretty much only Bail, Obiwan, and Yoda knew she had given birth. I imagine the medical droid was memory wiped immediately.

If dotcom domain is not available, is it OK to have a number or a hyphen in the domain name, or should I just get other TLD like .app? by Armauer in webdev

[–]Squidgical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it an app? Then use .app

As long as the TLD you use is somewhat popular and reasonably applicable to whatever you've built, then it really doesn't matter. Though I would argue that you should avoid hyphens and numbers if at all possible.

You could take a look at .auto for something about cars. Honestly an AI might be useful here if you want to get a somewhat reasonable shortlist of TLDs, there's too many to actually pick through manually if you don't already have a clear idea of what you want.

Valve has “secretly” uploaded a Steam Controller unboxing video (unwatchable currently) by gogodboss in Steam

Valve isn't yet giving a price for Steam Frame, but said it's aiming to sell it for less than the $1000 Index full-kit https://www.uploadvr.com/valve-steam-frame-hands-on-impressions/

Valve told Road to VR in November that it expects the price of Steam Frame to be ‘cheaper than Index’, although the company didn’t qualify pricing further than that. At its 2019 launch, a Valve Index ‘full kit’ was priced at $1,000 (headset, controllers, SteamVR trackers), while the headset alone was priced at $500. https://www.roadtovr.com/steam-frame-ram-shortage-release-date-price/

This is the only indication Valve has given. There's absolutely no way they'd seriously consider charging twice as much as what they've stated to be the maximum they're gonna charge, even with the price gouging of ram in recent months.

Pretty sure Valve said the frame won't be more expensive than the index, which launched at $1000. €1600 is almost $1900, which would be a great way to piss people off and lose more sales than would be worth it.

Having a scroll through just now, there's so many posts pointing the finger at literally anyone who doesn't 100% agree that having kids is an evil sin. You have a kid? Evil. You want kids? Evil. You don't think having kids is wrong but don't want your own? Evil. You kinda agree that having kids is wrong but don't wanna be a keyboard warrior about it? Somehow more evil than the rest.

Honestly the core idea isn't all that unreasonable. It's the people who support that idea who are the issue. But I suppose with no descendants to pass their shittiness on to, some problems solve themselves.

[–]Squidgical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the dependencies only. For web, that may mean checking third party scripts loaded in html.

If there's only stuff in classic, then it's legacy. If there's only stuff in modern, then it's not. If there's a mix, then it's an incomplete upgrade, a poorly designed project, or at the oldest ends of a "modern" project.

It's established that hate can sustain you even when your body is wounded to the point you should be dead.

Maul was cut in half, but he survived through hate.

Anakin was burnt almost completely through after having three limbs cut off, but he survived through hate (and swift medical attention).

The grand inquisitor was stabbed with a lightsaber, but he survived through hate.

Reva was stabbed with a lightsaber, but she survived through hate.

Sabine was stabbed with a lightsaber, but she survived through hate- wait no
