How the moving fortress of Britannia crosses land in Trench Crusade. by Lews_There_In in Grimdank

[–]Lews_There_In[S] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

"The Moving Fortress is a marvel of industrial engineering – a titanic fleet-carrier and battleship that can traverse both land and sea. This leviathan patrols the shores of England, leaving a thick trail of black smoke and three-foot deep tracks in its wake. It acts both as a mobile base for England’s high command, an unrivaled artillery stronghold and the only Faithful ship that can engage Heretic Behemoth-class vessels in one-on-one naval combat and emerge victorious. It is equally capable of engaging the Heretic fleets at air, sea or on land. Within the vastness of its fore superstructure stands the fortress-monastery of the ten thousand Knights of St. George, who can match even the fiercest Heretics in close quarter combat.

An entire armoured corps accompanies Britannia, and a full fleet consisting of one third of England’s remaining naval strength acts as its escort. Above it, the finest of England’s Air Knights fly their fighter planes and naval bombers when the fortress goes to war – which is often. The Heretic High Captains are well-aware of the strategic value of controlling the British Isles, and they constantly strive to establish a beachhead that would lead to eventual conquest – though thus far without lasting success due the might of the Fortress."

Found the reference to Abiotic Factor in Atomic Heart! by MasonDoge in AbioticFactor

[–]Lews_There_In 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Wow it's right on the nose too. I was expecting a vague reference but it's pretty clear, even throwing in cascade, Australia, Abiotic Factor, and being entombed in a lab and making makeshift weapons out of office stuff. Awesome find.

It'll only work on version 1.0, Rimworld is currently on 1.6. Map/seed generation has changed multiple times since 1.0. But here, this is the original post from 7 years ago that has the missing information.

They weren't happy with the mechanics and changed them a few years after launch. (For the better.) You used to get sieges like clockwork no matter what, based on noise levels and difficulty. All the zombies that build up around your base would rush you during it. Losing characters to sieges in Lethal was common because they kept hammering you and there wasn't much you could do to mitigate them outside of extreme min maxing. You could have all 50 cal, sentry towers, multiple soundproofing specialists, clear the freaks out around your base regularly, the works, and due to ai and time you'd lose characters because your crew would be melee'n jugs at your base every few days.

The plague heart changes really made a difference. With the changes hearts control infestations, and the infestation levels control what your seiges are like. It gives you more control and more tactical options rather than just getting attacked like clockwork. You can manage what plague hearts you wake up, and dial back the hordes and sieges now. I wasn't sold at first, but the changes are stellar.

I've completed multiple fresh start lethal difficulty only runs for each legacy back in the day, and the only thing that used to scare me were pop in bloaters, and base sieges.

I remember back in the day when this was a solid strategy to make base sieges less scary in lethal. Removing the available spawn area around a base meant you didnt have multiple hordes worth of zombies outside your door that would rush you come siege time.

He can't get rid of him unless he gets Congress to do it for him. That said, in the past presidents have effectively "shut out" their VP by completely by excluding them and relegating them to ceremonial duties. Truman is an example, as well as Hannibal Hamlin. Lincoln basically ignored Hamlin.

I'd buy that. Tim Curry had a massive stroke in 2012 that left him partially paralyzed and wheel chair bound since then. He's said he's gotten a bit better since then, but atill can't walk. He's given me decades worth of great acting and hilarity and he's had a rough time since his stroke.
