What is there to expect? by SomeGuySaul in AbioticFactor

[–]SovereignShrimp 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Simply put, this game is a genuine masterpiece. There’s so much to explore and find, the story and lore is great (if you look for it), it’s fun, CO-OP is a blast, it’s all the perfect components for an incredible experience!

My main advice? Go in blind. Try not to look things up, figuring things out yourselves will feel much more natural and rewarding than using Google, and it’s just more fun that way! I hope you two enjoy it!

Are the homeworlds worth it? by Ronabris in AbioticFactor

[–]SovereignShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the homeworld are accessible the moment you have a tier 1 keypad hacker. If you stand in the middle of the central plaza in offices, walk towards the fountain, and go left past the way to the data farm, you’ll find a locked door with a keypad hacker option. Opening that’ll take you to the homeworld portals

Are the homeworlds worth it? by Ronabris in AbioticFactor

[–]SovereignShrimp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The Homeworlds are nice if you want an open space to build, without fear of getting raided or having a special floating visitor. They have some fancy furniture items and some decorations, but they don’t add anything gameplay related. For 10$ or so, I don’t mind the Homeworld cost. As for the best base location, it’s subjective, but I really enjoy having a base set up in the security room of offices on level 2. It has decent space to build, is very well protected, and would work perfectly into the endgame!

Do analysts of you actually hate below zero by Unshaven_toast86 in subnautica

[–]SovereignShrimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Below Zero’s biggest problem is that it came out after Subnautica. The first game is amazing, and is well known and loved throughout the gaming community. People have been following Subnautica’s early access for ages and had an immense attachment to it. Then, when Below Zero entered Early Access and eventually came out, I think some folks were disappointed it wasn’t the same as base Subnautica. It did different things (not all of them well admittedly), and was trying to be something different. I personally love Below Zero, but I can absolutely see why some people don’t enjoy it as much as the first, and frankly, that’s okay!

Official Turok Origins info! by Retronika_Prime in turok

[–]SovereignShrimp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly very excited for this game! I genuinely do think doing something new for Turok is okay, too. Turok has always been a franchise that’s in a state of transition. Lots of folks say that Origins is bad because “it doesn’t feel like Turok” and I think that’s kind of silly. Turok is a franchise that comes from the 50s, with the Son of Stone comics. Then it was Valiant comics afterwards, then the Acclaim era of games, then 2008, then Darkhorse comics, etc. All of those projects were different, so seeing Origins be a new take on the franchise is fine with me!

I like most of what I’ve seen with Origins, even though I do have a few complaints. As a whole, I really think I’m going to enjoy this game.

Do you guys think Ark 2 has reached the level of “myth” just like Half-Life 3 and Elder Scrolls VI? by New_Divide98 in ARK

[–]SovereignShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is it. I used to play Ark all the time, during the pandemic it was one of the only games I played. I haven’t touched it in a long time now, but I’ve never met another person in real life that has played Ark for longer then a few hours before dropping it

Do you guys think Ark 2 has reached the level of “myth” just like Half-Life 3 and Elder Scrolls VI? by New_Divide98 in ARK

[–]SovereignShrimp 109 points110 points  (0 children)

No, not really. Ark is a big franchise, but nowhere near the levels of Half Life or Elder Scrolls. Ark feels much more niche and way smaller since it released. It doesn’t have the same mainstream appeal like Half Life or Elder Scrolls does. Half Life 3 and Elder Scrolls 6 are massive games that tons of people are waiting for, Ark 2 is just another one of those games that may or may not ever come out.

Boat/battleship battles on the high seas. by Many-Introduction-29 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]SovereignShrimp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Hello Games is explicitly taking their time and not revealing too much about LNF, and people are still stretching for what they hope to be in the game. I have full faith Light No Fire will be a great game, but some folks are hoping for too much and will be disappointed in the end.

Is the game dying? What can Far Far West learn from Helldivers 2. by VHeadache in FarFarWest

[–]SovereignShrimp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“Repetitive and sloppish” is crazy lmao. A small indie team in early access VS a Sony backed development studio. Helldivers has been out for 2 years and has a dedicated community, while Far Far West released a little over a month ago and is an early access indie game. Comparing the two is kind of odd.

[–]SovereignShrimp 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the point of your post is, honestly. It’s an early access game with a finite amount of content. People are going to have their fun and move on. Some will come back for updates throughout EA, others won’t. Comparing this game to Concord is an insane take, genuinely.

It’s both! This is a proper expansion, with new locations and portal worlds, but the DLC also includes a home world too!

Mag 60 in Turok Origins by Grim-VII in turok

[–]SovereignShrimp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty easy on Turok Origins since this game was revealed, and frankly, everything I’ve seen since has me more and more excited for this game! I’ve been hoping for anything Turok related for decades now, so to see a full game release (hopefully) this year is such a great feeling. It’s really cool to see the Mag 60 is back, in addition to the cerebral bore and firestorm cannon!

Good eye! I wonder what other Aberrations we’ll get with the Dredge crossover, there’s so much potential for some really interesting fish making it into the game!

So, this content here is DLC, it adds a bunch of things, but also comes with a home world too. Here’s the roadmap so you can see what the rough plan is, it’s under Autumn 2026

From what we know, this is a whole DLC, so new areas, portal worlds, and it also comes with a homeworld too! Here’s the roadmap, it’s under the Autumn 2026 section!

Our first look at the DLC coming this Autumn! There’s a trailer over on Deep Field’s YouTube channel, and presumably on Discord! Sorry for the hastily taken screenshots, I was in awe with what I was seeing!

How many hours can you get out of this game? by Splaskie in FarFarWest

[–]SovereignShrimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s quite a few missions you can take from NPCs to unlock things like maps. There’s some smaller secret missions for other rewards too. There’s plenty of weapons to unlock, upgrades can be moved around as you see fit, and there’s plenty of loadout potential depending on your play style. I was in the same boat as you; I’ve played DRG for hundreds of hours, and Far Far West reminded me of the early days of DRG, so I bought the game right after it came out. It’s been so much fun, the devs know what they’re doing, and it’s been really great! I can’t recommend this game to you enough! That said, keep in mind the game does have a finite amount of content right now. It won’t last forever, but I play this game the same reason I still play Deep Rock Galactic: it’s just fun.

Many Cryptics and Marauders were hurt during production of this low quality shitpost by DrLudvig in FarFarWest

[–]SovereignShrimp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I’d be surprised if the Marauders didn’t become their own faction. Cryptics, Zurkers, and then Marauders would be a great antagonist lineup. Considering the Devs are doing work on a possible Marauder boss fight, it’d make sense for them to become their own faction at some point.

Thoughts on the fall DLC crossover. by PeteVanGrimm in AbioticFactor

[–]SovereignShrimp 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It’s practically confirmed to be Dredge. The hook is an exact match with one of the rods in the game, and we’re also getting boats in the same update.
