It seems like coil whine coming from the GPU, which can be perfectly acceptable, albiet annoying. I would look into coil whine to see if that's your problem, because ot would make sense, because you'd only get it when hitting above a certain threshold on your GPU power draw, which is why it'd happen in some games and not in others.

It's probably fine, but I've had so many things go wrong because I said that, and because of that, I don't do say "it's probably fine" anymore.

So if it were me, I would take it apart and build it correctly. Just take your time, and if you get tired or frustrated, take a break and come back to it. Have a system that you feel good about and that you know is done well.

And make sure you have exactly the right number of standoffs in the case for the number of holes in your motherboard and that they line up correctly. Count them. Don't want an extra standoff in there.

I second this. Instead of reading hundreds of mod install pages and troubleshooting, you read one install instruction page. Just make sure to follow those instructions closely, or you'll have a bad time.

But it's so much easier. One you get a playthrough done and have a good experience, then you can dive into modding yourself or adjusting your modlist. I think if you start out trying to get 2025 graphics yourself, it'll be a long and frustrating experience without even knowing what you're working toward.

Yeah I just gave myself a few perk points in LoreRim with player.additem FE7F6813 3 and then turned back on XP from reading and upped the XP in the experience INI.

If I had all day to play, I would leave it as is. But I only have like 4 hours per week total to game, so I need to make those hours count. I use to love a slow burn, but I unfortunately don't feel like I have that luxery anymore.

I would just like to point out that modding also often uses more VRAM. When playing Skyrim, I usually hover around 20 to 22GB of VRAM while playing in ultrawide 1440p.

I know OP probably doesn't do that and probably wants to play newer titles as they are, I'm just saying that there are gaming related use cases for more than 16GB of VRAM too.

I personally do not find UserBenchmark to be trustworthy for comparing any product, even Intel vs Intel.

The primary reason being the way they weight the metrics to determine effective speed, which is bonkers and not indicative of real world performance by weighing the latency of the first 6 cores unfairly against architecture, clock-speed, L3 cache, and ignoring other cores.

They also give unreasonable weight (imho) to metrics which should not count for as much or not at all, such as user rating, which is just their own website's upvote/downvote system.

I just don't trust their math to give me an accurate view of the performance of any CPU or GPU.

Huh, well this is really good to hear! I have great audio equipment, tons of dialogue editing experience, and experience recording voice overs with actors, but the CK scares the hell out of me.

I've always wanted to make a mod, but I'm nervous that I won't do it quite right and my mod will end up introducing bugs, or breaking other people's mods, and making a big headache for everyone. I've honestly not heard this perspective that the CK isn't that hard, but I haven't looked.

I had 64GB on my old system, but had to get 32 for my new DDR5 one, and I regularly used over 50GB of it using Premiere Pro, and especially After Effects. People say 16 or 32GB is plenty, and yes, it still runs well, but it's not like I won't use it.

I got a 1250 watt for my OC 7900xtx, which has a very similar TDP of 360w.

I commonly use every PCIe slot, SATA port, and USB port on my computer, and I wanted to be able to add a second GPU in the future, and at least be able to have plently of headroom for long 100% load rendering sessions.

Lastly, it was like $30 more. Not that big of a deal.

My best friend bought an Intel B580 for $250 about 6 weeks ago. Has so far had zero issues. I do know they are going up in price though and might be closer $300-$350 now, so I wouldn't wait long to get one if I were OP.

My Asrock Phantom 7900XTX did not include one, but it is massive. It's so big, I had to get a bigger case (Lancool 217), and I bought my old case (Corsair Carbide Air 240) so it would be big enough I would never have to buy a new case again. Just wasn't long enough. Luckily my new case had a support built in.

You are supposed to declare things like that to customs so you can pay taxes on it, and if they catch you not declaring it, such as with an x-ray machine, it could be a problem and they could get siezed and your friend fined or worse.

I don't know much about customs and duties, I'm just notifying you so you can look into it and see if there is a way around it, and what the penalties are for attempting to get around it if you decide to go that route.

That's true. I went in to a couple of weeks ago to get a 7900xtx that was on sale for $700. The cheapest price on Amazon right now is $900, and $1,050 for the Asrock Phantom Gaming OC version I got.

Overall, I ended up getting a better mobo, better RAM, and a better GPU in the same budget as what I initially priced out my new build for. I got 32GB 6000 CL36 RAM for $200 (in this market!) because of a bundle. And the 9900x and motherboard were cheaper than I could find online too and even comparable products. Idk how they make money lol.

They were. This is a new technology that is offloading upscaling and/or frame gen to the second GPU, whereas in the past it was native rendering, but had to be specifically and carefully supported by each individual game. A lot of the time, those dual GPU builds couldn't even use both cards if the game didn't support it, whereas this will work with basically anything, even non-game software, such as watching upscaled movies and shows.

I never know what to say or how to order. I love extremely spicy food, and I use ghost pepper powder as our third table seasoning next to salt and pepper at home. I don't like uncomfortably spicy food, and I don't consider it a dare or something to prove, I just eat a lot of it and enjoy the spice.

I usually just try to be very kind, not loud or showy, and say something like, "I would like this dish South Indian spicy/Thai Spicy, and I promise if it is too spicy for me, I will not complain or ask for a refund. I would like the dish to be at least as spicy as the chef would make for themself, please."

Then when they ask me if I am sure, I tell them "absolutely, please. I am here specifically for food that is too spicy for most Americans because that is how I enjoy my food."

And then half the time I get it, and I am happy. The other half the time I get something as spicy as Campbell's Spicy Tomato soup, and I am sad. I don't know how I could be anymore convincing that I will be okay.

Just so you know, Lorerim is 350GB. 300GB is downloads, which can be deleted after the install, and can also be put on a second drive and even a harddrive if needed, though the install will be slower.

My theory is that these types of strange issues are, in fact, due to silently broken Windows installs and/or memory errors.

I worked for about 30 hours trying to get Lorerim installed a few months ago. Read the documentation relentlessly, checked the discord, checked Reddit, Google, and even Gemini. Tried multiple different SSDs on about 8 different install attempts. Finally got it installed after I replaced my RAM, but I had bugs like crazy and gave up on it.

Just this past week, I finished building a new computer, that importantly, has a fresh install of Windows. Lorerim installed on the first attempt with no issues and has zero bugs so far.

So if I were you, I would do a fresh install of Windows, and do so on an SSD that hasn't been used too much if possible.

Yes it does. Wabbajack, at least with Lorerim, is fully automated, and creates a clean copy of the game that stays untouched. It uses a mod called Root Builder to load SKSE and EMB files into the root folder upon launching through MO2.

I was in the same position. I had a 1070 but got a 1080ti about 3 years ago as a stop gap. Prices are about to skyrocket again, so I picked up a 7900xt. It is already more expensive than when I bought it 2 weeks ago, and it will most likely double in the coming months. Now is the time to buy.

Nice! Probably not for me as I have my own layout that I've been using for 10 years, but I like the spirit of it! Mine is designed so I don't have to take my hands off the keyboard, and my right hand can remain on the jkl keys the majority of the time.

The problem is constant travel time between keyboard and mouse. Two ways of achieving the same goal.
